  1. Comparing it to @Rustons photos on his thread thevlatest position looks more "correct" Some other Impetus kits seem to have mysterious "gaps" where there shouldn't be.. Baz
  2. Ey up! Dr Eldest Herbert had his interview for the permanent version of his current (zero hours contract) lectureship. Part 2.. a presentation takes place this morning. Herself is off over the wrong side of the hills to take him out for lunch post presentation. Fingers crossed! @Ozexpatriate is that the "Moreton Bay" famous for its "Bugs"? I am always amused by decisions taken by people I'll placed to do so..currently I see a lot of it in sport.. a lot in technology but shed loads in local Government.. As @jjb1970 has spotted I have been taken to task on a subject I know a fair bit about elsewhere on RMWeb.. speaks volumes when the person reading it can't see the truth in a statement..happens a lot unfortunately.. Time to drink my tea and kick Tuesday into movement.. Stay safe! Hopefully we will see some more missing ERs return. @PeterBB hope your hand is recovering well. Baz
  3. Nope..its everyone who has achieved a point in life when you become less than amazed by the unprofessional attitude of so called professionals. Our late great colleague Chris f would have siad.. "Checkpoint Charlene "... Yep! Baz
  4. Hate to say it but technically I am correct. Boxer has wheels. Ajax has tracks which are carried on wheels. Major difference is Tracer Ajax is driven via drive sprockets by the tracks, boxer has its wheels driven. ( the wheels for the tracks were aided and abetted by an American.. Mr Christie..) I have seen designs to drive the tracks using driven wheels.. but its the power transmission afforded by the use of sprockets which works best still. UK Boxer may have ended up as a hybrid driven wheeled vehicle (All wheels driven) but everyone was afraid of the idea. If you paid me megabucks I till wouldn't go anywhere near the Tracer vehicle.. noisy, poorly designed Hull, running gear geometry weird.. and.. no hydrogas suspension.. Baz Oops got Ajax mixed with its requirements name .. Tracer, which was an output from the FFLAV Requirements (Future Family of Light Armoured Vehicles) but all to replace Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (wheeled) aka Fox and Combat Vehicle (Tracked) Scorpion, Scimitar, Sabre, Sultan et all.
  5. My friend is retired vet.. he did it because he wanted to.. money was not his main objective of being a vet. If an animal was in pain or incurable he always offered the owners the choice of putting the pet to sleep. Some of the newer vets (like some Doctors) are only in it for money so will drag it out to maximise earnings.... Baz
  6. Read my post.. yes Ajax has tracks.. these are held up by wheels. Boxer was always wheeled.. MoD wanted Piranha (and selectedbit) as GDLS were flavour of the month.. then it went very quiet.. Rather than the Ajax solution a CV90 would have been better but BAe loused that up.. How do I know?? Baz
  7. Ey up! Having taken my new medication at 06:00 tea could not be consumed until 06:30. Pah! @PhilJ W if you go to your GP you may be surprised. A few NHS Trusts have farmed out hip and knee replacements to private health care providers (same doctors.. just cost NHS more to get the job done.. hard life for these consultants!) Must admit the one I saw was surly, full of cold and had a " can't be ars£d with this but £195 for 10 minutes is fine" attitude. The GP who saw his letter was appalled...so was I as his advice is.. "just live with the pain".. wonder how he'd do if I walked his hip with a large hammer?? Time to geronwithit.. TTFN Baz Ps still waiting for my pre Christmas ECG results.....
  8. Ajax has wheels but those carry thrctracks. The UK Defencebindustry had a good spot on Boxer then we were told to getboutnofbit.. no Armybrequirement for wheeled vehicles.. As for Ajax, it is the wrong vehicle for the task itnisvtrying to do.. very large for acrecce vehicle, carp chassis ( which can defeat the Laws of Physics) turret which looks so wrong protection wise and .. that gun.. But it meant work for Wales.. Baz
  9. As most of the GPs at the Marie Celeste seem to make use of the NHS medi wiki.. the PA are fine by me. The BMA have not released any info on membership afterbeach strike time. The Junior Doctors at the LGI said that many are leaving... Baz
  10. Ey up! Busy day yesterday so just spent yonks trying to catch up on here.. I got used to safety briefings at various places.. it just had to be done.. but sometimes (mainly at airport sites or MoD sites) they were not run of the mill briefings.. it could include details of aircraft taxi route changes, gun firing times and locations.. so you had to listen. Missed my Shingles jab by a couple of months due to the usual admin team muck ups at the Marie Celeste.. pah! Started my new "take a pill every day to replace a jab once a week" routine today.. this could get tiresome! I am OK BMI wise.. if I was at the lowest weight suggested for my height I would be skeletal(!) Ain't medicine wonderful... erm well not all of the time! As it happens there arev42 written Laws of cricket. The important one is Law 43.. its unwritten as its "at all times use Common Sense". Its not written down as its a right pain to train! Time for breakfast methinks! Have as good a day as you can.. Baz
  11. Ey up! Not a good n8ght.. gave up at 5:15 and made a cuppa rea and watched a bit of cricket. Lummy those international umpires allow the players to get away with a lot. Thanks @Smiffy2 for cheering me up. are you Terry Pratchett in disguise? If so I name you and claim a prize (fingers crossed for a good result this afternoon). I am off to a local Group meeting this afternoon. For a small amount of financial input it's a good place to meet fellow muddlers, eat pork pie, drink cake, drivel on etc.. I need to organise a meeting to engage in aforementioned drivelling.. in fact I have 2 to organise.. engage brain.. get them done! Time for another mugatea.. TTFN Baz
  12. Been a busy Baz. Shopping completed OK. Small salad obtained from moreasons for lunch.. very tasty and apparently good for you. LED down lighters fitted.. easy to do but does take time. Ballasting and platform building have been constructed. I thought I knew most swear words.. then I went to work in Barrow..lummy! TTFN Baz
  13. Ey up! Slept in until 05:55.. lummy! A day of muddling and walking lays ahead.. hopefully. I need to ho to the butchers and then....over to me! Her indoors had twin boys turn up for music lessons every week.. a colleague said to her "watch out the shared brain cell seems to m9ve from one to the other.. quite randomly" She could tell which one had the brain cell.. he had remembered his recorder! Chuckinitdarn again here..pah! Time for my tea and off to the butchers.. Stay safe! Positivevthoughts to all ERs but especiallynournpoorly and missing ones. Baz
  14. Ey up! @polybear keep the BD caged for as long as you can.. had to deal with one myself recently. When I reached 18 stone in weight at 6 feet tall my BMI was awful and I was wearing 44" waist trousers. By working at it I am a lot lighter and a size35 waist. My BMI is a lot better but it says I need to lose another stone. Luckily Sister Drac mentioned that the BMI calcs are being reviewed as they appear to be out of date with the way the human body is changing.... Meeting attended last night.. 1000 members.. 10 attendees.. not good. Right time to get today's show on the road.. Of course you could forget calculating distance/time route making in space.. use an Auto tracker instead... Have a good day everyone! Like Polybear my new wake up call is 4:30.. for no good reason.. PAH! Baz
  15. The tea would be cold, the biscuits plain and soggy and with LCC involved would be late and served separately... @Ben B you missed some bits out.. Get rid of the trams.. not modern enough Buy buses Cogitate.. Introduce guided bus lanes... Introduce bendy buses.. Introduce the purple people eater super bendy buses.. Visit France to see a modern tram system.. Involve people who have no idea about trams... Get money kicked out due to poor submission.. Great new idea.. Get trolley buses.. Incompetent consultants taken on.. who know nothing about trolleybuses.. Get the bid k8cked out.. Go for a super local network and redesign city roads to make it hard to get anywhere by car..and causes additional pollution.. Stop the intro of electric buses.. the charging system will kill anyone with a pacemaker if they walk on or past it (!yep!) Give it to someone else to sort it.. who also has little idea on the complexities of it all... Me? Cyn8cal? No lived here far too long... Baz
  16. Ey up! Trying to get some senior ECB people to understand the words "safety critical" is impossible.. even if a senior (retired) partner in a Law Firm tries! Pah! Today will involve as little as possible.. May even spend time sitting quietly in a dark room! Time for my tea! Baz
  17. Can't blame me! I am in the North West Leeds Highlands.. Baz
  18. Still looks good despite launching itself into the loco turntable pit on Leeds Victoria( an old layout built by members of the Leeds MRS). Baz
  19. A lot of the tram lines in Leeds are still in situ.. it shows how much carp has been chucked on the roads since the late 1950s... Highway engineers generally unaware of them (some aren't aware of what they are mistaking them for "road strengtheners"). Scrape off the debris.. get the trams back from Crich.. add a big battery.. ooh err.. our tram system returns! Baz
  20. Ey up! I used to read a lot of Sci Fi books when younger. Nearest I get now are Discworld books. I have some admin to do today, plus a bit of preparation for a meeting tomorrow evening. .. I think the accounts are strange.. they cover such a long period of time.. Otherwise today will be a bitza day... trying to get lots of bits and pieces finished.. Time to head off to the tea pot, get a brew sorted then.. kick today into action. Try to enjoy your day! Baz
  21. Very nice.. My technical drawing was not of the best.. but I can knock out system plans, programme charts , process flow charts with ease... Baz
  22. Mike has oodles of them.. he generally sells them at shows.. very handy! Give him a call. And yes.. thats the dry Dock.. .one helluva high tide!!! Baz
  23. I take it you have some Judith Edge etches to make the 21T hoppers a bit better? And, in Leeds there is a bar opposite what was the Poly main building which is a complete barge? It's a bar but it has impressive Hull shapes.. Baz
  24. Never seen this and I have used a PVA/water mix for many a year. I add some fairy liquid.. no colouration.. so far. I do "wet" the ballast surface with a water/IPA mix.. What sort of water do you use? It could be that? Baz
