  1. Ey up! Not a good nights sleep obtained.. Pah! Off to play with a scale model of a place near Barnsley near Barnsley today @Erichill16knows where I mean! UK PLC has turned itself into a profit provider for many overseas companies including Pension funds in Canada and free roving financial whizz kids in the USA. Service comes last to these money grabbing people but the City of London loves them.. Time to gerronwithit. I hope @grandadbobis OK.. along with other missing ERs I hope they are well! @polybear Madeira, the Canaries, the Balearics are ok. Malta as already said is nice.. or you could visit thecRailways of the North. TTFN Baz
  2. they play cricket on the frozen lake as well.. and no, I am not volunteering to umpire it! Baz
  3. Ey up! 8.5 hours sleep.. a record! Last paid job I did meant working strange hours.. as in day and night shift crossovers.. delivering SAP training. My then director called me in one day to tell ne HR had gone nuts with him due to my extra hours (one week it was 95 hours) . What should I not do? Just get on and do it.. just consider this a rollicking of course once SAP went live the flexitime kicked in and I could have (like my ex colleagues now do) had lots of extra holidays. PAH! Only ever allowed to take up to 3 weeks off while I worked.. in retirement I can now fo things like 3 months in Oz and NZ.. Time to gerronwithit! Baz
  4. enjoyable day at Preston Show.. but boy the muppets on the M62 were causing chaos! Her indoors has driven down to Chelmsford.. she reckons the muppets had moved off the M62 and were busy causing chaos on the A1... If ever you are invited to a Sikh wedding ... go ! took me weeks to get over the one we went to! Cruise liners do cause problems. In Tauranga in New Zealand the place is full at lunchtime them empty from a bout 3pm as the cruise liners take their passengers back on board.. in smaller places (like Akaroa) it is hopeless at lunchtimes... Noticeably in Madeira the German based ships do tend to "hog" the best cafes etc in Funchal but don't spend much..The Brits generally pay their way. We met an American lady last year in Auckland.. she had gone "exploring" the rest of the cruise liner passengers stayed in their rooms...lummy.. Auckland is a great place to have a look around with lots to do and see.. but no.. they were recovring from their 12 hour flight from California (put it into perspective, it took us 23 hours of so to get to NZ from the UK.. They were mortified! The cruise left Auckland and went to Tauranga, Christchurch, Fijorland, Wellington , Melbourne , Sydney.. then home.. thats New Zealand and Australia covered in 10 days.... tick in box! Baz
  5. Ey up! Off to Preston shortly. I hope to buysome much needed muddling items. Time for porridge! TTFN Baz Ps wheres @grandadbob??
  6. Yep 2 can be achieved relatively easily. Most of the locos for Carlisle do this. The English Electric Type 4 and Brush type 4 on Shap are both fitted with legomanbiffo sounds. Both work well.. listening to them notching back as they get to the summit sounds good to me. @1471SirFrederickBanbury.. pick a really hard to machine metal.. Tungsten.. its a so and so to machine.. Baz
  7. Seems to have sorted itself. Been wet, dark and sunny at various times today.. the constant bit is.. its flippinfreezin! Baz
  8. Ey up! Good nights sleep has been achieved. Could be I make a bacon and sausage (Welsh Dragon) banjo for breakfast.... No domestics scheduled for today but her indoors is off darn sarf for a few days dso no doubt written instructions will be provided later to cover my tasks. Pah! Tuxedo Princess.. sawbit.. never visited but we did travel up to the Toon on occasion (either by the United X5 or minibus). A riotous visit to the Hoffbrauhouse did include sitting outside Central Station talking to the bonnie lasses heading home! Chuckinitdarn here so.. stay safe, stay well and have a great day! Baz

  10. Yes nice for them to see the light of day.. once the layout is complete should be able to dig some more stock out of my storage trays (compartmentalised plastic bread trays) Watxh this space!! Baz
  11. Haven't built a platform for years.. these are a labour of love! Baz
  12. Flipping lightweights! Wouldn't last 5 minuted Doon the Toon... ( or rather on a night out in Newcastle upon Tyne in the snow with the ladies in short skirts, strappy sandals, strapped tops and a handbag the lads in T shirt, shorts and flip flops...) Baz
  13. so been a very busy bee.. not just with Muddling but in trying to get cricket in my Region sorted... Been busy building platforms, wiring, testing and ballasting.. note the 12 wheel dining car in the middle lay by road.. a bit more tidying up on the ballast to do and also need to get the platform edges done. and looking away from the buffer stops.. and some more switches added to the control panel. All points in this rea are mandraulic, ones further out are electrically operated via PECO switches Electromagnets to fit and wire (I will be using sprung switches to operate these. More photos soon! 15. Ey up! @The Q.. we set ourselves up as a CIO(Charity incorporated Organisation. Why? It Cost less to run (qe submit accounts and a wrirebup on what we do for the community each year, we can get gift aid from all donations and gives access to other fund raising opportunities. It also limits our liabilities as Trustees. Well worth looking at! Chuckinitdarn here but I must buy some provisions s this morning. Some emails need to be sent and returns need to be read and acted upon. Then.. a bit more muddling I hope! Hope that all ERs are in good form, any who are ailing have a calm and restful day! Baz
  16. WHITE RABBITS! ... Or should it be "MARCH HAIRS"?? Baz
  17. Thanks for the support for Dr Eldest Herbert.. he is still at 40,000feet but did manage to deliver his lectures today! Baz

Fixed a chassis on an unmentionable item used for carrying "goods" yesterday. My task today is to fettle some wiring.. I will try to get out gor a stroll at some point.. I need the airbus I have a coked coming non so need to avoid the wet..pah! @Ohmisterporter.. shortage of medical supplies in the UK is a major problem at the moment.. but n9 comments from the press or other social media. I have been moved from a weekly jab to a tablet a day recently as "no supplies now available this year".... Stay safe! Baz
  20. @pH similar things happened to my Dad, but he was RAFVR. i have loaned his Log Books to the Imperial War Museum as it seemed a good place for other people to get access to them. Baz
  21. Ey up! Her indoors is taking her carbin for servicing this morning. I am going along as the chauffeur to ferry her back home.. Fingers crossed for Dr Eldest Herbert.. hopefully he will get positive news about his job. I chaired the UK Synthetic Environments and Simulation Working Group as part of the Technology Foresight DTI panel. Across most industries we noted the use of digital and analogue (ie real system) development and testing. It means you can try ideas out before going into production. We used it to check out the crew training needs for a certain tank particularly the fire on target sequence. Saved a lot of time as we transitioned towards design sign off. We also used it as part of vehicle sub system tests (using a Weapons Simulation Test and Integration facility. Seems like it worked to me but it was a great time to be a systems engineer. Time to.. charge on and go to the garage post some breakfast.. (porridge and banana). Have a great day! Baz
  22. Not been a good day. Due to go to a school friends funeral today but had more bad news.. another one died this morning. Will now stay at home as it is too risky to go on the A1 methinks... Baz
  23. Yes, an interesting character. Some of the "repairs" he does are scary.. he started "fixing" a Chieftain turret gun kit.. with little understanding of how unsafe some of the bodging he was doing could be. Baz
  24. Comparing it to @Rustons photos on his thread thevlatest position looks more "correct" Some other Impetus kits seem to have mysterious "gaps" where there shouldn't be.. Baz
  25. Ey up! Dr Eldest Herbert had his interview for the permanent version of his current (zero hours contract) lectureship. Part 2.. a presentation takes place this morning. Herself is off over the wrong side of the hills to take him out for lunch post presentation. Fingers crossed! @Ozexpatriate is that the "Moreton Bay" famous for its "Bugs"? I am always amused by decisions taken by people I'll placed to do so..currently I see a lot of it in sport.. a lot in technology but shed loads in local Government.. As @jjb1970 has spotted I have been taken to task on a subject I know a fair bit about elsewhere on RMWeb.. speaks volumes when the person reading it can't see the truth in a statement..happens a lot unfortunately.. Time to drink my tea and kick Tuesday into movement.. Stay safe! Hopefully we will see some more missing ERs return. @PeterBB hope your hand is recovering well. Baz
