  1. Cricket was umpired. It was very cold.. Baz at Headingley. The ground was quite soft.. but.. as we left.. they were watering the square. All club cricket has been postponed around here..... Baz
  2. Ey up! Attended an umpires meeting last night. All was going well then I had to explain the concussion protocol. It's been in place for 2 years but few bothered about it. Now it has been restated.. the message is.."do exactly what the protocol says". Very easy you would think... nope any excuse not to do it was trotted out.. answer was the same "for legal reasons JDI" Eventually it was accepted.. boy didn't realise how stupid people can be. Off to Headingley to umpire two T20s shortly. The weather may reduce this to 1 T20 and a T10. Me? I'll umpire whatever the coaches ask me to do. Have as good a day as you can! Baz
  3. Ey up! Busy day ahead Including (hopefully) a pleasant time zooming with some like minded people. Teams is an awful package.. Microsoft have now 5aken it out of Office. Big problem is its old and creaky. Using it for interviews means it's hard to pick up on body language. I have used it for this purpose but I prefer face to face interviews. Time to geronwithit as O have a lot to do! TTTFN Baz
  4. Me and my big gob...by some use of more electricity we approached Leeds Station 5 minutes early.. held by a signal.so ended up 5 minutes late..pah! Which meant I missed a bus and spent 11 minutes waiting for the next one... PAh! I attended a panel interview for a post in the civil service. I was asked questions which I wasn't allowed to answer.then I had a sensible interview and got a role at JET..it caused a problem when one of the interviewing panel in the UKAEA was asked why I hadn't been selected. He thought I knew diddly squat..to be told I had all the right knowledge and technical ability to run rings round him.. Baz
  5. Late this morning. Late tonight.. LNER at its best.. ie carp... Azuma back is causing a lot of discomfort as is a fellow passenger who can't be bothered to blow his nose.. @polybear never ever had a cake with candles on! Had to take pies ans peas in in Barrow on pay days and birthdays. Long day and we didn't achieve enough to say its bèn a good one. Sleep well all! Baz
  6. Ey up! Late and Never Early has got off to a bad start. 5 minutes late leaving Leeds and now held by a signal check near South Emsall.. frabjoy! Nice pictures @Gwiwer but the Leeds.. York..Scarbados Coastliner route is voted most scenic route regularly. Off to Lourdes (the ECB need a financial miracle or two!). Meeting to be had on line tomorrow when I can get Zoom to cooperate . Have a great day! Baz
  7. The weather is creating chaos. Game today cancelled but games on Friday have been moved to Headingly.. ooh err! Pictures will be taken as momentoes.. In other news.. preparation for tomorrow's meeting has been completed.. May have to join via Teams due to uncertainty about train travel pah! Visited the MRS and checked out some Repairs/improvements we have done. Yippppppeeeeedddddoooo! It works.. but another problem has been identified. Pah! Time for slow cooked beef and veg for tea.. lovely! Baz
  8. Ey up! Yesterday was weird weather day.. but I now have a no cricket umpiring day today. Problem is.. I have a cricket meeting at Lords tomorrow.. so its preparation day. Train tomorrow is a concrete seated Azuma badly organised by the Late and Never Early Railway.. aka the Civil Service. @polybear we either travel from Leeds Bradford (10 minutes by taxi) Manchester (1.5 hours by bus/train) but I only used to park at LBA for day trips to London.. not cheap but never had a problem..perhaps you need to move? Her indoors hosted a recorder group meeting last night so.. no TV sound to be used... not a problem.. I did my prep for Saturday's meeting. Time to get on with breakfast. Have as good a day as you can! Anyone heard from @Ian Abel recently? Baz
  9. Filled in and returned our "Risk" document for the show. Chapel has been repaired and some minor modifications undertaken and tested. Stock is just about there.. all we need now are some joining instructions and we are ready to go! quick pic of the ICI Hoppers on Chapel
  10. so far today we have had heavy rain, wind, hailstones/snow balls from the sky, bright sunshine but its blowing a hoolie and is flipping cold (about 3C) PAH! Game tomorrow cancelled .. pah! Disgruntled Baz!
  11. Ey up ! Guess what? It's chuckinitdarn..what a surprise! NOT! our first car.. Bessie.. was a mini in Tundra Green and had a very small engine in it of an A series type. Could trundle along at 60 but didn't like going up hills. Today will involve a Zoom meeting plus a trip to the MRC to replace our water carrier which self destructed on Saturday.pah! At some point I need to put together a short presentation on making things dirty, hopefully the attendees will enjoy it along with the opportunity to have a go themselves. Time fo my mugatea and then.. to infinity and beyond.. Baz
  12. Ian, If you don't post on this thread it will hibernate all on its own, Best regards Baz
  13. Managed to get the grass cut before it rained.. good for grass cutting Pah! For chuckinitdarn.. Baz
  14. Ey up! A reasonably successful day yesterday, some wire strangling was achieved. I need to check it out on Monday afternoon. Tit for tat never solves anything.. Ttfn Baz
  15. And self lubricating unlike squeaky nickel silver ones. Baz Ps and sir knows why I hate nickel Silver pickups
  16. Clean joint.. apply a little fluxite.. weld.. Baz
  17. Ey up! @Erichill16 knows all about drivers who stop at a roundabout which is empty.. its a Barnsley thing.. happens all the time. @polybear you were ripped off.. my "Brietling " cost 5 ringitts and lasted 25 years from a stall in KL.. Today will see some wire strangling and a bit of grass cutting (if the mower doesn't sink!) One of my items which represent a vehicle used as a braking device was accidentally totalled at York. A replacement kit has arrived.. from Judith Edge.. unfortunately its a plastic set of parts not her usual etched metal creation! Time to drink my tea and gerronwithit. Have a great day! Baz
  18. HUNSLET works will be in use. Free entry, free car park. Second hand sales will be in place. Baz
  19. I always try to get people to havexa go at weathering (indeed there have been cases where people have bought second hand items to take their attempts homecwith them). There are loads of techniques to weather items.. I see my role as being one of providing a foundation of what weathering is all about (ie getting some good colour photographs and on servation) then building confidence in doing the weathering. At Warley I regularly came home with a few part weathered items.. never set out to finish any during the show.. Baz
  20. Ey up! Lots of people off to sunnier climes from Leeds Bradford. Why are Aitbus A321s so much quieter than Boing 737s?? Lots of things to sort today. Two zoom meetings to organise, info regarding a cricketbissue to sort, some bills to sort (and I await a refund from Trans Pennine Express for a strike cancelled trip.) Cricket around here is heading for a disaster zone due to.. rain.. loads and loads of it. Most of the Leagues are hoping to start on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.. no chance... I must also check the preparations for taking an object based on Chapel en le Frith (Central) to Bristol... only paperwork received on that so far is... a Risk Management questionnaire.. wonder when joining instructions will arrive?? Still feeling less than well following my trivandrum fall at Easter. Everything is slowly heeling. Time to finish my tea and gerronwithit! @polybear her indoors has sorted a lot of donations this week. One had nearly 90 very nearly or actually new items of very clean clothing.. seems like Easter weekend was clear out weekend.. Baz
  21. Ey up! Not a lotn9n today.. but I need to get a wiggle on to be ready for the return of her indoors from moreasons.. TTFN Baz
  22. I made the mistake of reading the book.. it didn't shape up well against some of the other books on the Eighth Air Force and I didn't bother to "pay to view" the series on TV. Band of Brothers was a different kettle of fish. The author (Stephen Ambrose) talked to a lot of veterans from that story.. Baz
  23. Late back from my course tonight. Some interesting driving techniques observed on the A1.. indicators are not optional! Time for some sleep. Baz
  24. Ey up! Positive thoughts to @Dave Hunt.. hope it gets sorted pdq.. nut.. I am still editing from an ecg scan last December which means I have a very large travel insurance quote which will only reduce when the consultant remembers he needs to action these..pah! Great day yesterday. Progress on layout made by red leader..food and tea were consumed and even the sun came out for a while. I really don't get the need for AI generated pictures.. must be my engineering brain is not switched on by them.. but other ERs seem to have the same opinion when I PM them to find out why they are missing.... just saying.... Long and busy day ahead so.. Stay safe! Baz
