so do I but the owner may want them too....

It would look even better if I had made sure the fall plate was down on the Comet kit built example!
-
good question....train heating boiler???
Must say that 10000 is an absolute beaut!
-
Could be John... the green is slightly "duller" on the Hornby one.
I must say the Kit built one does also weigh more than the Hornby one and it has a portescap fitted so it should pull more but I haven't got a EM layout to try it on..
-
Sorry Steve ..no prize.....
both have coal one just has more of it
one is EM and so doesn't fit OO track.
Hornby can't afford overhead warning flashes
and the missing whistle is... just hiding.....
well done that man!

Yes, Mike still has his pair - still connected in the middle by SJR Mk42 couplings(!)

Three are on the weathering table as I type this.....

Thanks!
-
Thank you for that.
-
Yes I am - sorry to not post here sooner !!
No problem..
-
Thanks very much!
-
Nice work - lots of handles and door details which are a pain!
just a genteel weathering of the roof and underframe and they will be very nice indeed.

Yep and they are a really nice model - another 4 to weather yet...
-
Thanks very much ... managed to cover the factory weathering on the two rectangular tank wagons after a bit of work.
-
Ta very much - these are all EM and are now on a layout of Carlisle which is "in build" in a large purpose built shed. Hopefully Mike Edge will start a layout thread with more info soon!
-
They are coming along nicely
-
Thank you very much Paul. Have you weathered your tankers yet? If not go on ... you know you can do it!
-
After leaving it for a month it has virtually gone... and I kept it out of the dust so it didn't grab any passing dust. Will try and rephotograph it again...
-
Yes
must say I am very impressed with this kit built loco... might just buy a kit and build one for me!
-
Stanier tenders do collect muck and there is so much variety in them. Jock, very tempted by this kit as its lovely.
-
Thanks.
Next up will be a Rebuilt Scot.. then an A4...
-
Thanks very much.
-
Arrived back with the owner who is very happy about them all... Great!

Castle
This is the only one I have had any trouble with. It is second hand and has seen a lot of work.
Be careful with oil/wd40 etc as it attracts dust.

Jock,
thanks!
the Duchesses are my favourite loco - far better than any other of the Big 4/BR Std express passenger engines. (Although teh Lizzies are a very close second) The owner has seen the photos and likes them so I just await some more to do.
