Thank you - the owner is happy with the photos so lets see what he thinks when it arrives back with him next week.
-
To a point yes but it spreads everywhere despite me cleaning the loco inside and out before I started weathering it.
-
Thank you for the likes good people!
-
Thanks very much!
-
Just by a set of etches from Mike for a tender... you know it makes sense(!)
-
good luck with the Perseverance kit... me, I was just lazy..
-
They certainly did. I would like a Jersey Lily -- but I can't see that happening for a while!
-
I will be buying and building one of the D10s from Judith Edge as it looks a really nice kit... The Bachmann D11 has soem problems but still looks good..
-
Sorry for the slow reply Mike.. been out an about today.
The basic techniques use a rotring black ink/water wash from the top of the vehicle down, then a brown ink/water wash up the vehicle . I make use of good quality colour photos of the locos being weathered to do highlights etc,
When the ink is dry I use weathering powder to give the dirt effects.
The oil around exhausts etc is done by applying the powder to the ink while still wet and then !pulling" the mix to show the wind streaking
More details are in my thread

best regards

Sounds an idea - it needs to be removable and that great screw head ruins the motion work on these locos... shades of my Triang Princess(!)

One of my favourite classes of loco's, so much so that I nearly have the same number as the real ones built in the Hornby Dublo collection (lots waiting to be renovated).
I might try and weather my N gauge ones using ideas gained from this post, keep the updates coming
Paul I know it isn't weathering but have you tried replacement magnets for your Hornsby dublo duchesses? It improves performance so much.I got mine off a dealer on eBay.
I have another red duchess to do so will update when complete

Is that lining panel on the cabsides correct? I thought it extended up towards the roof?
Yes they did paint some of the Duchesses in this style

-
yes we can share them..Be nice chaps share lol -
There's a colleague of mine who has several in his attic; part of his childhood trainset. Given what I know of him, they'll still be in their original boxes.
Brian
get him to dig them out - I want some for me(!)
-
when I finish them they are all off to Carlisle.. and they are EM so not much use for us OO people...
-
Have confidence Mr Price - if all goes wrong wash it off and start again ..
and thanks for your very kind comment
-
Thanks lyndonsdad1. The man who made and painted them (Nicktoix) - is very happy with them thank goodness. Watch out for these on his new O gauge layout.. a complete change of scene to Denroyd!

Thanks very much

comment from the person who owns these... "nice and dirty..."

Looks good!

Happy New Year St Enodoc!
Glad they cleaned the inside - the cleanest externally seemed to be the ST Ival White/Red liveried ones.
Checked out the Dapol wheels they look OK but these aren't for me - the Lima one has had Gibson lima replacements fitted...

Hi Clive
yes you are right - chicken and egg. These were obtained for a club layout of Hartford Junction - which was never finished and we had not sorted out the knitting(!). While people scream for thm I wonder how many of say a 312 or a 313 would actually sell?

Hi tom,
As you had mentioned this before I cleaned it before weathering it...but its so deeply infused into the plastic I will wait for a while then reweather where I need to.
