  1. I'm visiting tomorrow if you want a brolly or dry socks :)).....
  2. Locos were introduced I 67 / 68 so spot on .........:-) :-)
  3. Judging by the comments on the Durham Trains of Stanley F/B page, your not the only one in the trade who feels aggrieved and angry. Maybe a bit naive but if l were in DJs position starting out, l would do everything possible to keep the trade sellers on side viewing it as a trusted relationship and word of mouth free advertising.
  4. Been an active modeller in1982 both railways and plastic ships/aircraft, l have no recollection of the Prime Ministers cup. I would have thought DJ being an N gauge modeller the N Gauge Society would have been using the success to promote the scale. One thing that did seem odd to me is that in one post he states he left Dapol to start DJM, then another that after he left Dapol he realised the only way forward was to start DJM, sounds suspiciously like he was invited to leave and pursue other interests or have l missed something.
  5. Especially the one from the steam tour over the Britannia bridge in 1989 ?
  6. I worked at Dover from 1981, we had 3 x 09 locos,2 in the Ferry yard and one in the Town yard. There was a pilot changeover for each loco in turn eaxh week, usually from Tonbridge, with appropriately grumpy train crew. This changed in the late 80s once a fuelling point was built in the Town Yard.
  7. The only positive from Izal was the unusual liveried Palvans used to transport the finished product. I recall an item in the magazines of the time regarding a new system of airbag dunnage used to protect the load in transit, l could never work how how bum paper was that valuable to require special handling.
  8. As Rails is spread over 3 / 4 shops each with at least 2 floors, the majority of which is not accessible to the public, l understand they are location codes as to where the stock is stored. Often when l buy things in person the assistant will disappear for several minutes presumably on a trek to the other end of the buildings to fetch my item. (or they could have just gone for a cuppa) As others have suggested, a quick email or phone call to Rails should be able to set your mind at rest.
  9. Excellent service from Bure Valley models , succumbed to two Dapol 22s ordered 1400 Thursday, postie delivered 1200 Friday. Well packed and a good price. Recommended.
  10. If you remember the Fast Show.... "you, ain't seen me right ?"
  11. 9 months announcement to arrival, best not mention it in the DJM thread....... Hat, coat, gone :)
  12. Picked up one in person this afternoon, they have a vast amount of bargains in th shop.
  13. On Kernows website there's no mention of DJ attending any of the opening events of the new shop. Given that Kernow took a financial hit on the 74, maybe relations are a little cool at the moment ?
  14. Sorry to read of your loss. They are never just "a cat"or "a dog" but a massive integral part of our lives and leave a massive hole when they are gone. RIP Suki
  15. Was used to import Peroni several years ago. The launch was used to emphasise the green credentials of rail transport.
  16. They were trading at Doncaster exhibition last weekend. Try contacting Paul Cull, who advertises in the small ads of the Modeller, as there seems to be some kind of tie up between the two, he was certainly helping to man the AA stand last weekend.
  17. Backlog of maintenance from the recent bad weather in France and to,a lesser extent Belgium. Should be back to normal next week, but dont hold me to that
  18. Well out my era for modelling, but l worked at Dollands Moor from before opening until 1998 l will definitely have a couple or more......
  19. I recall dealing with in Hull New Yard October/November 1974.
  20. Couple of books by Stephen Poole are worth a read, they cover a slightly later period than Finnes.
  21. Booked move for the Northern turnback services, has been for many years.
  22. Full bar one seat. Has run full for the past few years as a Christmas dining tour, with Carol service in the Minster. Good option rather than the heaving masses at York, and a few decent pubs in Bev.
  23. Tried it and didn't work "Not valid with this postage option" Ho hum...
