  1. That's great to hear Simon, I've known its been on the cards for a while knowing Russ as I know you do too, so hopefully it'll be along soon enough.
  2. Just ordered another shark, Portobello version black. Whats not to like.
  3. Agreed, I was very much looking forward to mine, been acculmulating various engineers wagons in lieu of this arrival. I do have the NGS one I suppose....
  4. No didn't have anything in mind (well apart from a cowans sheldon and a decent lowmac) but no I wouldn't really be in position to do CAD. I was just thinking if Tom or Steve had a print that you'd done for their own purposes but that someone else liked I was just wondering what they think it *might* cost to make it worth their while to print and sell on. What strikes me is that their prints with a little work are already better than Shapeways prints that I've seen.
  5. Guys If and maybe its a big if, what sort of cost would you think there would be in a simple unfinished unpainted print of a single wagon. Not including wheels, couplings etc.. The finish from what I'm seeing is starting to really look excellent after a few test runs. So question is what would a wagon body cost from one of these home printers rather than somewhere like Shapeways.
  6. To be honest I've been aware of that project for a long time, and its never been delivered yet. I know it seems to be imminent but its been that way for a long long time.
  7. If anyone fancies knocking together a cowans-sheldon crane, then be my guest
  8. Interested to see what appears in here..... I'm enjoying working away at a V1/V3 print but always interested to see what guys like yourself come up with. Sounds like there is a continuous improvement in the printing as well, with high quality home printing now an option rather than Shapeways etc..
  9. Whilst most people this weekend are on about rucksacks at Warley things were a lot calmer several hundred miles away in Falkirk As always Falkirk never fails to deliver, a medium sized show but well ran and organised and good layouts every year. Really enjoyed it again, lots of friendly chatty operators too. Really enjoyed the WW1 layout as did my boys, obviously poignant anyway but this was superbly done. I also enjoyed Lomond Street, the big and great looking and sounding diesels of Dalnoter bring back great BR blue memories, also liked the scale of Grangemouth but the winner for me was the North of England layout. Absolutely superb and not even my era at all, the country house was outstanding but so was everything else. Loved it.
  10. Nice job on the V3, its a cracking piece of work by Atso and I'm enjoying working on mine which went into paint yesterday. One wee thing, did you leave off the smokebox number plate? I must be weird but I enjoy doing the lining!! So thats the next step.
  11. Going to be superb, never saw GM in its heyday, but drive past the site on the motorway often these days. This will be cracking, the stock list alone is superb.
  12. I'd take this level of 'presentable' any day of the week. I think once you get some of the surrounding stuff, i.e road surface and markings and greenery, in place it'll also soften the look of the bridge, which at the moment is standing out alone but when presented as part of the rest of the completed scene I think will look spot on. It really will.
  13. Lovely work Mr Simon, I've seen a few of these done now and they are all coming out great, this is no exception. I like the lived in look too, mines will be the same. Great addition to an already exceptional stock list.
  14. Decided 60152 wasnt quite workstained enough so had another shot at it Her she is caught in winter light that now seems to the norm
  15. Look forward to seeing an exotic 'overseas'n gauge layout
  16. One that goes in the calendar early. Always worth a visit and reasonably local too.
  17. Hi Just wondering if anyone can help. I'm pretty desperately needing a farish a1 tender top, I had been fairly hopeful of getting via Bachmann spares but they do not have such a thing other than the non-standard 60163 tender top which is off no use to me. When I called they indicated they dont get spares in for 'out of production' models which is disappointing considering the A1 is a fairly recent model and had a short production run. Can it be that i genuinely dont stand any chance of getting a spare one from anywhere? BR lines showed nothing as did Peters spares, I dont know of anywhere else. Any one got a spare tender top? Pretty please!!
  18. Looking forward to seeing what colour finish you achieve whether that be airbrush not. You've certainly got the stone texture looking great and I'm sure like everything else you seem to do you'll get it spot on. Just a sensational piece of work you are producing.
  19. A gentle reminder for anyone who wasnt aware that this is N gauge....... yip thats right N gauge Great great work.
  20. So essentially slightly wider frames to accomodate the different bearings, so not hugely noticable in N gauge, but more importantly a round axle box cover rather than the square/rectanglular one of non-timken. Which would be noticable in N. Thanks guys
  21. Do A1 tenders fitted with timken look any different from the normal tenders? As I understand the bearing covers would have timken stamped on them but other than that I'm not sure. Thanks in advance.
