  1. Any N gauge cars from the 1970s would be useful to me - I have a couple of Airfix 1/144 cross-Channel hovercraft kits to populate.
  2. Well, it would seem that we will still get that, just not as the first couple of releases.
  3. I'm very tempted to order both LNER versions now, but I need to a: wait until the identities are confirmed, and b: research the O2s to find out which versions would best suit the southern end of the ECML circa 1938.
  4. Me too! Part of my childhood, that car. There always used to be one parked in a little area to the left of the goal at Portman Road when I used to go to Ipswich Town FC home matches in the seventies, so I really, really would like one for my planned layout of Ipswich station circa 1978.
  5. Dwarfs at a nudist colony are a real nuisance - they're always sticking their noses in other people's business.
  6. What's green and swings through the jungle? A septic monkey.
  7. Just been on the tube of you, looking up some old faves, including: Windmills of Your Mind, by Noel Harrison (son of Rex) Gentle On My Mind - Dean Martin The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - Joan Baez Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are - Meat Loaf Everything Louder Than Everything Else - Meat Loaf and finally, my all-time favourite song, Chelsea Morning, by the wonderful Joni Mitchell. Whenever I'm feeling down or blue, I only have to listen to this beautiful piece of music and my spirits are instantly lifted.
  8. Currently listening to the avuncular Brian Matthew, on R2's Sounds of the Sixties. A regular Saturday morning highlight. A much under-rated song and singer. Anyone remember her as Leather Tuscadero on Happy Days?
  9. I haven't ordered any yet, but I'm seriously tempted by Gaugemaster's exclusive version of The Royal Alex in Pullman livery. Can anyone give me a good reason to not order one?
  10. The Eagles - Hotel California (just the song, not the whole album). Gold radio are having a seventies weekend - not quite as good as a sixties weekend, but pretty cool nonetheless.
  11. I love this song so much; it's one of the great forgotten hits of the sixties. Did a bit of youtubing yesterday, and the ones I'm still humming are Twist & Shout by The Beatles (my favourite Beatles track), and Somewhere Over the Rainbow by the late Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (Big Iz) - magical.
  12. Quick, where's the 'dislike' button?
  13. I just listened to Doctor In Distress, by Who Cares, on YouTube - the song, from 1985, was a fantastically misguided attempt to bring the imperilled Doctor Who into the public consciousness in the manner that Band Aid did with the African famine. As a lifelong fan of Doctor Who, I was surprised that I had no memory of this song from my teens, but having listened to the first minute or so, I can only conclude that a) no radio station would play it, or b ) my brain expunged it from my memory in terror. If you are tempted to have a listen yourself, don't. Seriously, don't - you may never recover!
  14. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.
  15. I don't fit into any of those categories - I run everything I buy, I am aware of the L&B but not knowledgable about it, and I've only a very passing interest in narrow gauge, yet I am strangely excited by the prospect of RTR L&B. Perhaps I'm the exception that proveth the rule. As you say, time will tell.
  16. Excellent. I looked only last night and couldn't see it.
  17. I like the idea of RTR 009, as I will never have the time to build narrow gauge kits in addition to all my other modelling interests. Depending on price, I will be getting a loco or two.
  18. Going back a few years, I bought a Bachmann Royal Scot from them via mail order, which they renamed and renumbered, and the gentleman I spoke to on the phone was most helpful when discussing whether my choice of name (The King's Royal Rifle Corps) was one of the available options. The subsequent model was very nicely done, too. I haven't used them since, but only because I tend to use more local (to me) shops.
  19. Plenty suitable for the late 1970s, which is good for me.
  20. Fabulous song! I downloaded it a couple of years ago, and listen to it if I need a smile put on my face. Original, re-mastered or re-recorded version?
  21. There's a model of Welwyn Garden City being planned on this forum too, if you want to slot that in!
  22. Ta for that. Hopefully they'll replicate in 1/43 too, for my burgeoning collection of Lotuseseses, both road and racing.
