  1. I know a similar joke about nuns meeting Count Dracula - same punchline.
  2. All together now: if your mansion house needs haunting, just call Rentaghost...
  3. Now write it down a hundred times. If it’s not done by sunrise, I’ll cut your spherii off!
  4. Ah, so the slave must have been from Norway...
  5. Lovely photo of an excellent subject.
  6. Come the revolution, citizen, you’ll be first against the wall!
  7. Mine too. Like others, I hope Hornby continue to increase the edition size as long as there’s demand.
  8. What did Big Ben say to the Leaning Tower of Pisa? I've got the time if you've got the inclination.
  9. I hope that's not the latest iteration of Hornby's new 'design clever' policy.
  10. Thanks to Peter Bedding and Olddudders for their enlightening replies - despite that, you still haven't put me off buying St Alban's Head! I might just have to do a spot of repainting instead.
  11. If no C1 emerges, I for one will be hacking an H2 about with gay abandon! Incidentally, can anyone advise me if 2426 St Alban's Head would have worn SR olive green in the post-war Southern period, 1945-47? I've got no reference on this class to speak of, and have tried t'internet with not much success so far. I'm trying to find an excuse not to buy it...
  12. Also, with the new-build Atlantic under way, the model should have sustained sales appeal for a while yet.
  13. I'm quite happy at the news of the H2, partly because I'd like one or two for my SR collection, but mainly because it makes a GNR/LNER C1 much more likely to appear.
  14. That sounds like an idea worth pursuing. To paraphrase Kenneth Grahame, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about with trains.
  15. There's something very appealing about playing trains outdoors.
  16. How nice to see John of Gaunt; the Hornby model of that was the first loco I bought on my return to the hobby about 12 years ago.
  17. Probably more enjoyable than reading the latest from Jeffrey Archer/Tom Clancy/Dan Brown/Tony Parsons* *delete as applicable, depending on age and preference!
  18. You can say that again! I'm impressed by the whole layout, but I think this grass really finishes it off very well.
  19. Because they sell; if they didn't, Hornby would not have kept them in the range.
  20. I remember watching Countdown once when the late host reminisced about the time he was known as 'Twice Nightly Whiteley,' and said sadly that it was now more like 'Once Yearly, Nearly.'
