  1. Tried to enter the 'exclusive' RMweb members competition. Typical website lets me register then says my password is wrong. Gave up and deleted email, this doesn't help Warners at all!!

  6. The gnome is still stuck at Trago Mills, because his bus was cancelled and his friend's car has broken down. He's definitely not worried about missing some parade through Plymouth, though, and hasn't had a sausage for ages. He did ask me to ask you, though, where Haverfordwest was.

  7. Was advised today that the cause of a almost flat battery on my car is the "Smart" technology that it has fitted. Apparently this stops the alternator from spending too long charging the battery because that saves fuel. This happens even when the charge is low owing to short journeys. Smart? PAH!

Had 4 Cortinas (and 4 Capris). Many miles in all but ALWAYS took a tool kit plus wire coat hanger, sticky tape, elastic bands and paper clips. Mostly managed to fix them but not always!

It cost more than £10 in fuel as I went back to the dealer to "fix" the problem which didn't exist! At least the journey charged the battery correctly!

  12. Those nice people at Notts Police have kindly sent me an invitation to go to one of their Speed Awareness Courses. Oh well, could have been worse I suppose. (For clarification I was not caught in a residential area. 60 in a 50 limit on a straight and clear B road in the countryside). Guilty, no argument, but question is why we can't get them to put speed trap in our village from time to time.

I always slow down for speed cameras as well. This road has about 8 miles of average speed cameras which I observed carefully. The guy in front was doing 40 just to be sure. Where the average speed cameras finished I decided, unwisely, to get past him. The mobile speed van was waiting at the end of the average speed zone!

Yes, but surely safety in villages is just as important? We live near a school and last saw a PCSO with a speed gun 5 years ago.

There are a lot of people in all walks of life who don't have your courage in admitting how they feel. Use that strength to find someone who can help - they are not far away. Things do improve, often out of the blue, so hang on in there.

  17. Attended Doncaster Show this weekend. Great layouts and interesting stands. Generally enjoyable but why are so many visitors so inconsiderate to others? Barging, pushing and blocking stands is only part of it. In Worlds of their own. Left after 3 hours as getting so fed up with it. Old subject I know but fresh in mind again.

I am not so sure of the mefirst. Most offenders are in their own little world and can actually look straight at you but obviously don't see you. Eyes glazed and vacant!

  19. Wondering how to carve off the guard's ducket from the Hornby ex-LMS non-corridor brake coach so that I can convert it into a pull-push trailer...

Weren't the doors in different positions on the coaches with and without ducketts?

  20. Wife is a Blue Badge Holder. At lunchtime we found disabled parking slot occupied by Nissan Navaro (Pick up truck as big as a 9F) but not displaying any blue badge. Probably because driver does not have ability to park such a big thing in a normal space! Such selfish actions make me mad!

I understand all that and as I said above that I take care not to misuse my wife's pass. I do note that sometimes when I have taken her to the shops and i pop back to load the shopping while she is still away from the car I can get dirty looks. Difficult to know how to handle those situations but I would explain to anyone who asked.

Actually it was a pub car park. After a discussion with the manager at another pub a couple of weeks ago (where evn the pub employess park in the disabled spaces) I just could not be bothered to make a fuss. Having previously "discussed" the issue with offenders I have found it is a waste of time. Depressing.

If my wife is not getting out of the car then I do not use the badge even if she is with me. Just wish others would show consideration.
