  1. Track plan just ain't gonna fit. No more space available for a layout. Which of the key features I wanted am I going to have to drop?

NOCH do a model of a chainsaw. That might be useful

Not been to a show for a long time, £6 is a bit steep for entry IMO but it does look like there's a lot of interesting layouts there. Hoping there aren't many O gauge traders as I'm a bit skint at the moment...

  3. So a piece of flexi track made in 2005 is now "vintage"? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-PECO-STREAMLINE-0-1-X-FLEXIBLE-STRAIGHT-TRACK-/300644588076?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item45ffd05a2c
  4. is started to get a little irritated with unnecessary post removal.

  5. If you can't watch this and smile then there's something wrong with you...

Had that on my fav list for a while, whenever I'm feeling a little blue I put it on! Also have a look at some of the stationary engines they play music to!

  6. An appropriate username for the seller, methinks.
  7. is throwing some money in the general direction of Station Road Baseboards for some bits towards my O gauge project.

  8. I think it's because so many modern trains are long - apart from the odd rural passenger service of course - and most of us don't have the 10ft spare for an express service in OO gauge, which is why so many layouts are either short "BLT" style operated in steam days where half a dozen wagons or 1 or 2 coach trains were the norm, or a TMD. In any scale the majority of larger layouts are club owned and operated, which also means that buying 20 or 30 of any particular type of wagon becomes much more feasable than for the individual - and, as you've already noted, N is great for that 'train in a landscape' type of modelling rather than shoehorning something in to a space so it becomes overcrowded. As you also note, Banbury is a fantastic example of "how to do modern image in N" and I am very much looking forward to seeing it for real at some point in the future.
  9. I like the user name of the seller of this item: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gauge-0-Cab-interior-Kit-Class-33-/280800626171?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item41610585fb
  10. Fire alarm went off at work, not sure why, stuck outside for 30 minutes in the cold with no coat. Back in now, defrosting.

I do wonder, though, whether some fire drills do more to harm someone's 'health & safety' if they are made to stand outside in low temperatures without adequate coats etc. Whilst not necessarily strictly reflecting 'real life', perhaps those who arrange fire drills in Winter should have a supply of emergency deputy reserve overcoats on standby.... ;-)

Hah, usual culprit is somebody making toast and forgetting about it whilst they text their other silly friends.

  11. I wonder if Mr C is aware of the high esteem in which we hold him round these parts...?
  12. I rather like this. Just the thing if you're modelling the line past Sellafield... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item415c5b9f8f I'm also never going to be able to look at a roll of Mod-Roc in the same way again... http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4ab2f9e286
  13. has discovered the big metal file again. I have no idea what i was doing in the kitchen drawer. At least I can now tidy up my O gauge rail ends.

  15. has just managed to rip open his finger for the 4th time today trying to extract Peco track pins from the carpet. I suppose it's better than standing on them (which I've done more than enough times already today; the latter triggers the former).

What you need is a large magnet.....

Not helpful when the pins are horizontal and embedded within the carpet fibre loops so the only way out is to pull them out sideways - preferably with a pair of pliers rather than your foot or finger.

I open them over the top of a magnet in the first place then they have less inclination to leap off the baseboard...

  16. For that price I'd expect it hand delivered by a tribe of vestal virgins...
  17. It's the seller that's the idiot then because there's a tickbox to say where you're willing to send, and if you don't want to send outside the US (or wherever) you just untick the relevant boxes.
  18. The price for the item isn't too bad but the postage? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAR-BULLFROG-SNOT-TRACTION-TIRE-MAKER-NEW-FREE-SHIPNG-/150678980758?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item23152ac896
  19. This one also from the same seller: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FREELANCE-Hornby-O-M-R-DIESEL-SHUNTER-LOCO-/300554398728?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item45fa702c08
  20. asked for a raise at work. So they're giving me a desk on the second floor instead.

  21. really should buy an airbrush booth and mask... I have been spraying a DMU in rail blue and look like a smurf.

    1. Debs.

      We need papa-pictures! :-)

  22. If it was a load of tatty old rubbish (as is often the case on Ebay, and often featured in this thread at silly prices) then you might have a point, but that's the sort of price that custom paint jobs go for. Honestly I think it's quite a good deal even if perhaps its not something I would be interested in buying myself as it's outside of my area of interest.
  23. Fantastic work that I could only dream of achieving. What are the overall dimensions of the layout please?
  24. Now that is a neat idea... will look for a cheap one on Ebay and dismantle it. Depending on the power load I can put a cheap chip on the motor and run it that way. I bet there aren't many DCC powered screwdrivers out there.
