  1. Your scratch building Terry, has been top drawer from the off. That gantry does look the business when it's done, doesnt it. Love the portacabin/generator combo too. Is that based on an actual structure somewhere ?? Dave
  2. I was wondering what those etched brass do-da's were that You and Kal were making. Now I see.....quite common by the railway...brilliant addition ...the rust brings them alive. Top stuff..! Dave
  3. Thanks Terry & Jinty. Yes they are modern axle counters, think Siemens make the real ones?? Yes, they do look very tasty Tase. Like the point heaters. Dave
  4. The camera is an old Samsung 3.2mp camera. I use the macro function on it to get close up pics. To avoid blurring due to movement I always set the 2sec. timer, after positioning the camera somewhere where its not going to move. Dave
  5. Thanks Jinty. Yes the new type of 'mushroom' (axle counter) ...all over the place on todays railways. Dave
  6. Ah yes..thats the original Le Chat...from long before they started appearing on wagons! Dave
  7. Thanks....believe it or not.......I used Oil..and black ballast....with roof dirt weathering. Dave
  8. Just finished the track detailing and weathering, at Sturford Station. Also installed the last signals. I've made a start on the Peco over-roof too, but it's going to take some time. So many bits and pieces to put together, just to make one roof section....and I need about 8!!!! Dave
  9. Lovely bit of architectural modelling there Terry. Quality stuff!! Dave
  10. Love the new pics Jaz. The workshops are top drawer! The 56 throught the station is fab. Had me fooled at first, looks like its going around a canted curve...very realistic. Then noticed the body's not on properly, giving the impression it's leaning into the curve. Looks good though!! Dave
  11. That's some serious equipment you've got yourself there Terry. Looking forward to progress on this one. I'd agree with Jinty, if costs allow, lights and motor would be the dogs...! Top stuff. Dave Ps. happy birthday tomorrow.
  12. Yes, great pictures Jaz...many thanks for taking them . Dave
  13. Thanks Welly. Yes, the lights and the nights drawing in, do give it a 'feel'. The Station house is said to be haunted!!!! Dave
  14. Thanks for the comments, Jim,Terry,Ken & Jaz. Glad you're going for it Terry. Look forward to seeing them on Glebe Road. Im not managing to get as much as usual done but at least it's moving in right direction. A bit more done tonight: Stop lights inserted on all five platforms and the fueling road buffer. Some platform seating too and another single departure screen. Station name boards too and the odd drainage catchpit. Dave
  15. Hi Terry, Well, of the two gantries I have at the moment, one of them is a kit and the other was scratch built. The first pic below is the kit( Traintronics), with additions made to it, like the drinking straw that covers all the wires from the signal heads, which are Eckon. The second pic was scratch built. The Supporting legs are square plastic tubing, the top deck is also square plastic tubing with plastic sheet on top of it.This is all stuck together with superglue. The handrails and ladder cage are made from 30 thou brass rod, soldered together and the cages which hold the signal heads are brass angle for the 4 corners and a square piece of plastic sheet epox glued to the bottom of them. The ladder is a spare from an old ratio signal set. The wires go up the hollow square plastic legs and are fed separately to each signal head. The signal guards I made with thin plastic strip arranged in a rectangle and to this stuck a rectangle of some fine nylon gauze I got from Hobbycraft. Think its used for wedding dresses etc. Ive use it for fencing too....quite handy. The signal heads, in this one, were also scratch built with thin black plastic sheet, plastic tube for the cowls and tri-coloured LEDs, to represent the modern type, which is all the rage at the mo. Hope some of this helps. Dave
  16. Morning Jinty. Very interesting link . Wish Id seen that earlier...like the idea of the rheostat. Alas the LED strips have already been bought, but I might cover them with a strip of frosted trasparent plastic, to diffuse the light and make it appear like one light strip. Many thanks Dave
  17. Thanks Jinty. Yes, the over-roof will be starting where the lights finish and going up to the station building. Will be lighting this with some LED strips. Dave
  18. Superb as ever Terry. Love the night shots...the 08 in the siding and the signalbox lit up is very atmospheric...and inspiring me to get a move on. Great stuff!! Roll on the next vid.! Dave
  19. These pics are tremendous Mr.S !! Last of the three I actually thought WAS the NYMR. Some special modelling going on here. Great stuf!! Dave
  20. Top vid Mr T. Was that a 33 that the camera was in? Engine sounded excellent. Dave
  21. Many thanks chaps. WRT the station building, I've had it for ages. It was a kit, (sure it was Hornby, but cant find it anywhere so may be mistaken?) If I remember rightly, it was supposed to be similar to Norbiton Station I've spruced it up a bit and added lights to the ground floor now. Dave
  22. Yes, trains running ...the sooner the better for me. Dave
  23. The meter whirls round like a record player, when Minsterley get's switched on!!
  24. Just seen the latest vid. Superb as usual..canal looks a treat....nice tip stippling top of each layer with paint to give a dark depth to it. Dave
  25. Managed to get a bit more done on Sturford Station. The 'Razor Lights' as I now call them, are in and working well. Hydraulic buffers in now too, just got to insert the red stop lights. Train departure/arrival display screens in too. Platform edges white lined and all platform tracks fully ballasted. When dry, the ballast will be suitably dirtied! Next job, station over-roof and associated lights. Dave
