  1. Yellow painted Transfer paper cut into 2mm strips Tase. Dave
  2. Ah.......well the secret is.....................................it's not paint! Dave
  3. Never ceases to amaze...! I think Terry (Hybridangel) was using a Brillo pad to do shrubbery, last time I looked at his thread. Who'd have thought that...but it looks bang-on. Dave
  4. My version of the hairy cigar involves a cheap blond wig. ...is the YT version the same? (Told you it sounds odd!) Dave
  5. Thanks. The method I use to grass up scrubland areas, uses a combination of Woodland scenics flocks (Burnt grass, Light &medium greens, Wild honey and Harvest gold), some of the Silflore long grasses, 4 or 5mm and for the longer straw grass/reeds I use the Hairy cigar method. If I describe this method, you'll think im odd...but it works a treat!! Dave
  6. Well it's been a while. With work being manic, I've not been able to do as much as I'd like, and so near the finish line too. But I've been doing bits and bobs, to keep things moving forward. The basic structure of the final station, Sturford, is now in place, and I've started the ballasting of it. Just the over-roof, lights, platform furniture,, OHLE and signals to do, a big clean up and at last the Grand opening and running session. Dave
  7. Did not know Dave myself, but from his thread, obviously a great battler and fantastic modeller. Very shocked and saddened by this news. Condolences to his family Dave
  8. I do imagine...it would be nice wouldnt it!...Will have to get this up and running soon. You've inspired me ! Dave
  9. This one's just bog standard, with peco roof sections and a generic station building, nothing fancy. Dave
  10. I had considered doing that, but I dont think there are any modern day stations with the name on their lights anymore?? Or am I wrong?? I would type it up on the pc in black and then print it on transparent transfer paper. Dave
  11. Cheers Ken. I'm pleased with them myself, especially as I now don't have to shell out a fortune to finish the last station on the Layout. Dave
  12. Yes of course. Quick spray of Plasticote Frosted glass and then a thin waterered down coat of white acrylic. There goes my patent!! Oh well.
  13. Well its worked a treat and gives a nice translucent white to the lamp boxes. Just got to fit the LEDS and wires, paint the posts and place on the platforms. Very pleased with how it's come out. Dave
  14. Ah well Mike& Ken...am trying out a recipe at the moment, so won't need to sand the perspex. Just need to get the white translucent too and we'll have 'lift off'!! I think Ken the lights will all be the same brightness...LEDS, but might use bigger resistors in one or two to make them duller. Naturally, the Queen will be there at the opening!
  15. Cheers Jaz & Ken. Yes Ken, think a night shot of them will be the one to do, as long as the frosting /whiting goes well today. Well Jaz, will have to check out acg_mr and Freebs for that plastic bending and brickwork. Not pinched owt from them before.... 8) (Love that road scene of yours by the way) Dave
  16. You've nailed it with that road scens Jaz...excellent stuff. You can't have too much burnt grass,...esp. this time of year. That cow's a work of art too! Dave
  17. Exquisite detail, as usual, Mr.T!!
  18. Those garage pics are top of the range scenery Terry. Brilliant stuff!! Dave
  19. No Hols I'm afraid, just work. makes me a very dull boy.....but the layouts the antidote to that !! Busy with the final stage of the layout at the mo....the other terminus station Sturford. Tracks in, platforms now in, brick boundary wall done and just finishing the last platform tonight...sloppy plastering. ...very messy. Some yellow lining too. After doing a scan of the interweb for platform lights, and not seeing anything that caught my eye, well anything that I could afford ( some of the prices...dear o dear...) I decided to do my own. Brass tubing and disposable razor safety caps....just the thing. Still to insert the LEDS & wires and frost/white the razor cap. Dave
  20. I can imagine the seagulls could easily get on your wick. Round ere it's pigeons cooing at 5am. Little blighters!! 8) Some serious detail there on those canopy supports Mr T, top stuff!!!!
  21. Definately looks like 'I'm' holding an umberella! What's for certain, is that I've been wearing the shades and putting up the brolly alot this weekend! Dave
  22. I knew Bachmann were doing one, but didnt know it was out already. I have done a replica one in Blue /grey a few years ago. Dave
  23. Wow....Envy...envy....envy.... Where did you get the Royal Mail MLV, if I may ask ??? Looks perfect on your layout, as it should. Dave
