  1. Merry Christmas wishes from me too David - your photos are a real treat that I look forward to every day. Please keep posting in 2017.
  2. Absolutely stunning work Martin... In a scenic setting it would be nigh on impossible to distinguish that these 'works of art' are not the real thing. Please keep on posting these examples of your craftsmanship.
  3. More brilliant photos Dave and thanks for all the responses to the 'Brake Van' question on the Cambrian freight.
  4. Thanks again David for continuing to post your excellent photos. I particularly like the Cambrian pick up freight in J3039. Even though all the wagons appear to be fitted there's a brake van at the rear - do you know if this was the standard practice at that time?
  5. Excellent work! Thanks for posting the photos.
  6. Harry, thanks very much for posting these photos! I'm sorry I've only just noticed your response to my topic that I started all those years ago... If you do have any more pictures, please post some more Thanks again.
  7. Great photos Mike - thanks very much for posting them. The ends of some of those SPA's have taken a real hammering from the loading process... Thanks Brian for the ISIS Link clarification
  8. Hi baz - were the Canton Brickyard sidings the same location where the covered ISIS Link depot used to be? Sorry for going a bit off topic...
  9. And what a great book it is David! I'd heartily recommend it to anyone interested in the freight scene.
  10. More excellent photos Dave - I particularly like the 26 at Menstrie and the shot with Methil Docks in the background. Have you any other photos in the docks area? Thanks again for this absolute treat for the eyes!
  11. Hi Mick - still experimenting with the various free suggestions on here and my own home made experiences. I've used real coal and chimney soot as well as wood ash, talcum powder, my daughters make up(!) and even cocoa powder which makes a very authentic rust/brake dust... Thanks again for all the help.
  12. More brilliant photos David. Was it easy to access the harbourside at Harwich to photograph the wagons?
  13. These are excellent Dave - many thanks for linking to your sites. I particularly like the Croxley tip photos, well worth a look for the weathered stock alone!
  14. What a great photo! Looking forward to more of the same. Thanks for posting.
  15. More excellent photos David. Many thanks again for continuing to post them.
  16. More excellent photos Dave - great to see the Cumbrian coast shots, many thanks for posting these inspiring images.
  17. Thanks very much for all the suggestions - the Tamiya set certainly looks to have produced very good results in cravensdmufan's hands! Excellent work.
  18. Thanks very much for the detailed reply Eddie. Do you know the last time the timber loading siding was used? (sorry for yet more questions...)
  19. Thanks for posting these excellent photos Eddie. In the photo of the 37 at Taynuilt. there appear to be some Dogfish(?) wagons by a raised loading bay in the yard. Were they loaded with ballast here from a local quarry?
  20. Dear All I'm looking to invest in a weathering powder set, mainly rust, brake dust, oil and soot based colours. What would the esteemed forum recommend? Thanks as always for any opinions/advice.
  21. That load probably has been carried in OCA's at least. They used to carry larger aluminium blocks from Fort William in the 1980's.
  22. David - please pass on my Best Wishes to your Mum. We've been through similar experiences with ageing Parents/In Laws for the last few years and have some idea of how you must feel. Post away when you have the time and feel up to it. Your photos always bring great pleasure to me and many Forum members, but don't worry - we're a patient lot ! Hope things work out well for you and the family. Best Wishes, John.
