  1. Hello Brian, for the roof black or galvanised steel. OzzyO.
  2. Hello all, well what did I get for my money? First off it was not £100 but a bit better £76. from the left a ER32 collet chuck that fits on the back plate of the lathe, this lets me use longer stock as it keeps the hole in the spindle clear. An edge finder this one has two sizes for finding the edge 4mm and 10mm, with this I'll be able to stop using bit of fag paper and marking blue and live cutters. A live centre I've wanted one for a long time but never got around to buying one. At the front 10 1mm drills with 5% Cobalt, at 77p each it may seem a bit pricey but if the quality is good! This is what I'm replacing with the collet chuck, it sticks out approx 75mm and blocks the spindle hole so I can only use stock about 5" long, The collet chuck in place, this still sticks out quit a bit at approx. 65mm but it leaves the spindle hole clear, so I can use longer stock, I did have a look at this as well but at approx £800 I did think again. It's OK but it only grinds the base of the cutter and not the sides as well. For that sort of price I can buy approx 80 milling cutters, in modelling they would last a long time. If it was for a model engineering club it could work out very good. OzzyO.

  5. Hello Richard, I have used one of your photos in Grasshopper's thread to show a point I hope you don't mind, if you do I'll remove it. OzzyO. PS. a nice looking Scott.
  6. Hello Tim, I do tend to use 145Deg. for just about every thing, I may use 188Deg. for the frame spacers etc. I use the 6mm tip for just about all work from soldering wires onto pick-ups to soldering the bridge pieces onto the drilling jig that I've just done. The soldering station that I use is by Antex (690 SD). The tip temperatures that I tend to use are as follows, 350Deg. for 188, 315Deg for 145 and a Max of 250Deg. for low melt. If the solder does not run at these temperatures I just turn the heat up a bit, on the drilling jig the large piece of brass was 5/8" X 1/4" X 3", For this I did have to turn the wick up to Max. (450Deg.) it did take a bit of heating up but I got it done. Re the Slater's wheel the above should sort it out, about the only thing that I do to Slater's wheels is to use 10BA screws for the crank pin fixing along with a tapped crank pin bush. OzzyO.
  7. I'd have been staggered at the price of a pint £5.00 a pint, that would cost me over £50 to start to have a good night out then it's the curry and the wife as well. That would be over a ton to have a night out. Get up north, it's grim but the beer's better and cheaper. OzzyO.
  8. Get a fooking bigger bit on your fooking iron to start with. you want to start with 6mm and then go smaller. Don't start with a 1mm bit and then try a 2mm bit Etc. Big is better when you are soldering. I tend to only use a 6mm bit for just about all of my work, then it's just about the temp. on the iron tip. and the solder that you use, 145 deg. works for me. OzzyO.
  9. Workington did have a railway station in the centre of town but this line did not serve Moss Bay steel works, I'm not sure it that line served Whitehaven as well. OzzyO.
  10. I travel on part of it any time I want to go anywhere in the rest of the UK. and no two journeys are the same due to the changes in the views and the time of year. OzzyO. PS. the old CK&P should never have been closed.
  11. It could be a problem if Brian uses plastic for the windows, but if he uses microscope slide glass it could work. OzzyO. PS. I'll have to go now as them nice men in the white coats have come to see me.
  12. , neither is Carlisle which is the only city of any real size in Cumbria. Small point Carlisle is the only city in Cumbria. The next biggest place is Barrow-in-Furness just about as far away from Carlisle as you can get. OzzyO.
  13. Do you have a photo of the hotel that you could put on the site? OzzyO.
  14. This maybe a better link. http://www.rapidonline.com/Cables-Connectors/Communications-Control-Cables/Screened
  15. Have a look at this link it may help, http://www.rapidonline.com/cables-connectors/unistrand-6943xlh-steel-wire-armoured-cable-per-metre-517213 OzzyO.
  16. It may not be seen but it was good for practise.
  17. I did say approx. for the weight. I was going on the size of the builders delivery bags. that are approx. 1 cubic yard. so that T will equal the metric tonne that is smaller than the imperial ton, (1 tonne =0.9842 ton, 1 ton =1.016tonne). 1 cubic metre = 1.308 cubic yards. OzzyO.
  18. 1 cubic yard of wet sand = approx 1 ton.
  19. Any chance of any photos?
  20. Or one of these as Steve says (the old Ron Chaplin) MT Cannon for £95 if your a member of the guild, or £121 if your not. OzzyO.
