  1. Has Stubby seen this? That brick work isn't too bad Jaz! ........ What are you gonna tackle next? I recommend a Wills Craftsman Kit . The watermill is a gem and so is the single road engine shed. In fact they're all very good!! The pub took weeks to complete though. Best thing about them is that they're easily customized. Regards Shaun
  2. J15 HORAAAAAGH!!!!!

You sound like you're overjoyed and horrified at the same time...!! ;-)

Jealous (again) and seasonally empty of pocket. :(

Exactly overjoyed and out of pocket!

  3. One day when/if I find the time I wish to scratch build a new set of buildings. So yes, maybe the blue and white or the green and cream. Decisions, decisions.
  4. Tony. The model will hopefully depict the west riding from any time between 1939 and 1965. So no colour light signals, lots of factories and mills but no modern office blocks. A disused canal and more than one railway company. L&Y, NE and GN. And if I can squeeze it in somewhere a goods only terminus maybe a fictitious CLC line. Some of the buildings need to be removable to allow access to lighting and some tracks. This gives opportunity to switch them out! One place I have stuck in my mind is Greetland to Hollywell Green. Most of the infrastructure is still in place and the line can be clearly seen on google earth. Instead of trying to recreate an actual line or place I will take bits of the north and meld them together to hopefully create a believable fictitious place. The layout wont have a name as such but will be called something like "It were grim up north during t' war" The sort of place you drive through on a rainy day when lost that you can never find again 10 years later but sticks in your mind because the atmosphere of the place is unrivaled!!
  5. My spare attic room is 16 x 14 at 42 inches and I might have to hack 2 inches of off Dunsters legs if I'm to go ahead with this Minehead idea. That will involve building a new fiddle yard for the Goathland/ Grim Up North garage project. Well I guess those points will come in handy huh!
  6. The scenic boards are 31" wide. Layout measures 20'x7' but there's only 18feet of scenic (as it's not finished). The fiddle yard is 16"wide, not enough and track level is 42" from the floor. From the beck behind the station to the tippy top of that abbey measures 24 1/2" a scale 153feet! We have trees taller than that which kind of puts things into perspective! Thanks for all the likes BTW Regards Shaun.
  7. Or try using the BBCode button top left when posting! Turn on to edit and copy code etc, turn off before committing to post!!
  8. Love the British canal scene in the fore ground of the last pic. Would that be your module per chance?
  9. Had a wonderful evening shunting Dunster. One of the points in the fiddle yard has broken so I must put in an order to Hattons for a new one and my mind is hell bent on buying all the bits and bobs that will be needed to build a small representation of Minehead now I have the room. It isn't like I've enough on my plate without starting a new layout extension. I can dismantle the shelf layout that never got finished and reuse all its buildings on the "Grim Up North" project and use all the track, points, uncouplers and gubbins for Minehead. There's wood for the baseboards salvaged from the old layout shed so it shouldn't cost much at all. Come to think of it I've already made a start
  10. What caught my attention the most, is how clean all the vans look. And you're right about the roof vents. There's two ex LMS without any and one LNER fruit van without any still labeled as fruit!
  11. Excellent thread Micheal. Thanks. This is Brighton. Ship street to be exact. This looks like Bethnal Green in Londons East End
  12. Love that elm! Lets see if we can't get Mrs Sasquatch to agree to a busmans holiday exchange! Was concerned to hear about your dad Jaz. At least he's not hurt and can be lucky that you have a granny annex! I have the T-shirt, so know that there is only so much you can do and that it makes you feel quite helpless at times. Am loving the Shefield Park build as I use to hang out at the Bluebell a lot. But sorry no pics to hand as that would have been in the days before digital! Kal. Locomotive detailing and stock weathering. Tell me about it!!! Have taken to slapping on a grimy mix of crafters acrylic and wiping it off with kitchen towel simply to speed things up. Am planning on dismantling some coach rakes to spray the under frames with Floquil Railroad colors "grimy black". Wonderful stuff.
  13. Although my signals are plastic, I follow all the same steps as Steve above but mask up the pivot holes with a tiny bit of "blu tack" before spraying. I do this to the bearings on rolling stock too! Nice clean build mate which I've been watching with interest. Regards Shaun.
  14. Some more evening shots. All kinds of weird stuff turns up on Dunster.
  15. Off topic. This recent cold spell has put a downer on things. Temperatures have gotten down to -17C pipes have frozen up, cars wont start and the log pile has taken a real pilfering. There's a good 6 inches of powdery snow which is pretty though!
  16. The sheer scale of this project makes me giddy. Your attention to detail is breath taking gentlemen.
  17. These bogies seem like a good deal and very reasonable shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ratio-OO-/170837696269?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Model_Railways&hash=item27c6b85f0d
  18. Hi Clay. That's the edging from the Ratio platform kit. Wills do a better one in brick! Love the Sasquatch Christmas ornament!
  19. First Xmas shopping outing didn't go too bad, only 20 minutes waiting to get checked out in Walmart.

  20. Been playing with the new camera this evening. Click on the images to make them really pop out!
  21. It hasn't caught fire yet Tony, not to say it wont if I just add one more van to its rake and run it round a couple O hundred times more. More on my Dunster thread
