  1. A cheap tripod is worth the investment! That second image is awsome. It shows just how good you have captured the atmosphere of the area. Could you take another pic of that view with your nicely weathered Black 5, all 60s train spotter style please? Regards Shaun.
  2. Well done Mike everything takes time. Thought you might like this. It made me think of you for some reason.
  3. Love it! That third veiw is gonna look awsome with the access bridge in place. Well worth every second spent!!
  4. actually got some modeling done today!

give us a picture then ;p

  5. Research is never wasted! Your efforts (and I'm sure all those who read this will agree), are outstanding! Above all you seem to be having too much fun. What might help is to print out an image of the area to be modeled and study it against other images. Make notes on the image as to the details and only note down those which you wish to include. If you look at our Goathland it is possible to see the difference between my wifes work and mine as she didn't work off of pictures and only did some things as I wished. The gorse for instance behind the footpath crossing and steps going up were a joint effort but the trees and undergrowth behind the sidings is from imagination. Edit: Just to say that the scenery isn't too important to get right as it is for ever changing.
  6. Those two pictures are confusing Jaz. the top one was taken using a zoom lens and the bottom one taken from in front of the shrub in the top picture. The fact that more water is flowing over the wier in the bottom picture shows that the water level should be higher in this image. There are 3 stone courses on the wier in both pics.
  7. Great Layout. Enjoyed the layout tour video very much especially as I don't get to shows with british layouts. I'll slowly work my way through all your layout threads over the weekend they're great! My layouts are in storage at present meaning that I can't attend the local show this year but it will give me a chance to chat with the other exhibitors for once. Regards Shaun.
  8. Ooo. I just noticed that the smaller saplings in the second pic are berry sprigs from a bamboo!
  9. These are woodland scenics trunks with poly fiber stretched out & afixed with PVA before primer. The bases were drilled out with a mini drill and a stff wire super glued in the hole for planting into the foam. A quick spray with dark brown, spray glue and Noch leaves then hair spray. Create a copse on a scrap of foam and replant when dry on the layout. Paras on training.
  10. Great videos Rick. The last one was timed really well! It made me feel like I should start running or end up waiting an hour for the next one.
  11. Very impressed Mike! Never make a sealed box, because of atmospheric pressure. I know this as a cabinet maker. Those cheap doors that you can buy at the D.I.Y. centers even have a breathing hole, it's moulded in as part of the joint! I even drill holes in the floors of all my vans! Keep the wonderful updates coming Regards Shaun
  12. Top job on that box Jason, can't wait to see the mortar go on the brickwork. It'll really set it off. Agree with you about the lighting being done right. I added all manor of resistors and dimmers but it still doesn't look right (maybe in evening light). Better pull the one from the signal cabin, Tony has a good point! Tacky glue is great for fixing a roof that might need removing, I use it on all rooves.
  13. My eye doc gave me a pescription for bifocals the other week. The Git! (Arabic: pregnant camel) I don't know why has I had no bother painting Harry Potters glasses on him in OO!

I think LaCrosse may make wellies in your size..... They are a very North American institution.

  15. Two meanings! Old saxon english and modern. wench (wnch) n. 1. A young woman or girl, especially a peasant girl. 2. A woman servant. 3. A wanton woman. wench [wɛntʃ] n 1. a girl or young woman, esp a buxom or lively one: now used facetiously 2. Archaic a female servant 3. Archaic a prostitute Wasn't implying anything, just confused at Kal's use of old english
  16. Your pic rmweb55trees, looks like one of my live frog wiring looms . Kal. Not vonting to spoil z image of vot my minds eye sees as a vench, I am googling and coming up viv zis :
  17. Banana slugs. Yuk! A staple part of sasquatches diet no doubt. Edit: I typed banana sligs.
  18. Yes I will make a nice kitchen in there, first up will be new five pannel doors for the house and the living room panneling with a pair of glazed sliding doors to match. Then a mahogany bathroom vanity etc etc. The Garage is to be used as my wood work shop for this winter as it is close to the house. We plan to convert the barn into the shop in the spring leaving the garage free for the layout!!! I should model the road bridge in the same way I did the tunnel and do away with those peco ones huh? Not sure what bug that was, tile-horned-prionus I think. We do have some big-uns, luckily not the spiders......."I don't like spiders"............ "can we go n now". (R. Grint).
  19. I didn't model all the fences arround the platform ends sticking to my principle that what might look good in reallity doesn't always look good in model form.
  20. Still speechless. Dread to think if called SWMBO a w...h!
