  1. In fact it was a Daimler, the Daimler Armoured Car was fitted with four wheel disc brakes in the early forties. It also had four wheel independent suspension.
  2. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. The sciatica has gone but it meant a wasted afternoon laying stretched out on the bed. Just as well I withdrew some modelling tokens yesterday for the Brentwood toy and train fair tomorrow and don't have to queue up at a TIM machine (I usually draw cash at the post office).
  3. Recipes are available, and you can buy seeds and plants. https://lostcookbook.wordpress.com/2014/01/18/skirret-pye/
  4. Just putting my slippers on brought Si Attica out of his box. Pills have been taken and now for a couple of hours stretched out on the bed.
  5. I've seen a truck with an arm* connected to the indicators that opens out like the old semaphore indicators that is intended to prevent cyclists and others going down the nearside of the truck. I have also seen a cyclist bend such an arm and continue down the nearside of the truck. Fortunately so did a police officer. *Also a warning notice telling cyclists not to go down the nearside of the vehicle.
  6. I've never thought of cooking eggs in an air fryer. I like my eggs hard boiled and eaten cold so I boil them in a saucepan on the hob. A late friend of mine, Brian (Wheels) Stubbles tried to boil a couple of eggs in the microwave. There was a popping noise and the eggs were coating the inside of the microwave. I don't know what his missus said when she arrived home but he had to spend quite a few modelling tokens on a new microwave. Agreed, they're not really good at frying except for oven chips. I have used it successfully to do my C*******s root veg for the last couple of years. I've been thinking about getting an air fryer cookbook just to see what can be done.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Overslept again this morning, almost eight when I woke up. Not only that last night the handbrake on the car didn't hold it on the drive and the car had rolled halfway across the pavement. I'll have to get it adjusted but in the meantime I'm leaving it in gear. That is the one fault with disc brakes, they are less efficient as a parking brake than drum brakes. Speaking of which, a little quiz for you. What was the first car with disc brakes on all four wheels?
  8. Depends on the model. Some say dishwasher friendly in the instructions and some say hand wash only. I don't have any problem with that as my dishwasher is on the end of my arms.
  9. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Home a bit earlier than expected, I got my dates wrong and the event is not until next Thursday. Not long after I arrived home I got an automated call saying that the water supply might be cut off. Not completely surprised as the water company are franticly digging up the roads all over the place. Only strange thing was the message was from the Northumbrian Water Company!
  10. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Just emerged from an extended eyelid inspection. I should have been going out five minutes ago so its be back later.
  11. Mention of flu/covid jabs reminded me that I can't find anywhere local that does them both at the same time.
  12. Morning all from Estuary-Land. BIN day again today. Also its the first week of food waste bins, the council distributed the bins over the last month. The bins themselves are 'locked' by positioning the carrying handle upright, at least one neighbour has put the handle down and the foxes have had a field day. Not much sleep last night thanks to Arthur Itis and the Nurofen took its time kicking in so after my bath this morning eyelid inspection will take place. Just looked out and the food waste and the pink sacks have been collected, the pink sacks by a brand new smaller bin wagon.
  13. It shouldn't do that, the weight of the basket and contents should keep it in place.
  14. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I was feeling a bit cream crackered after my bit of gardening this afternoon and was considering an early night. However I'm feeling a lot better now so shortly I'll be tackling Farcebook.
  15. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Managed to get a bit of the G word done before the rain started. I've removed a fair chunk of the ivy that had taken hold of the fence and smothered a few plants. It then started to rain so I'll have to clear up the trimmings tomorrow and put it in the green bin. The rain also brought out Arthur Itis, Nurofen has been deployed.
  16. Another one for dog (or puppy) lovers.
  17. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis was having a go last night so I took a couple of Nurofen in the early hours that soon quietened him down. Still a bit late in waking up because of that and feeling quite chipper this morning (but its not likely to last).
