  1. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Not done much today apart from a bit of shopping which woke up Arthur Itis but the Nurofen put him back to sleep again. Now for dinner, be back later.
  2. A main dealer should be able to provide a replacement including any chips. Well thats in the UK anyway. I had to have the battery replaced in my key and they had to reset the code and they just put the car details into an app (password protected).
  3. Watch out for the Triffids.
  4. The local council has replaced most of the street lights with LED lights. For all their advantages one problem is that they cast deep shadows. A pedestrian or cyclist wearing dark clothing is virtually invisible in those shadows, it's only when they move that you know they are there.
  5. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Not much trouble from Arthur Itis this morning but I have to be careful that I don't make the wrong move and let him in. Breakfast has been consumed and shortly I'll be going to run a bath. Be back later.
  6. Even the (so called) professionals get it wrong. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-63290908?at_custom1=[post+type]&at_campaign=64&at_custom3=bbc_wales_news&at_custom4=1F574B6C-4E4E-11ED-8375-1FB6923C408C&at_medium=custom7&at_custom2=facebook_page&fbclid=IwAR1MgedbJWs8MijAcn0L75ZcKDmdUDyu8UazQKCimXW8-bSZpqd1D3kseCs
  7. Evening all from Estuary-Land. No sign of Arthur Itis this evening but the pills will be taken before I go to bed. Its going to be chilly tonight with predicted clear skies and a light easterly breeze and the possibility of frost in the morning. Now time to tackle Farcebook, be back later.
  8. I'll have to check those lottery tickets.
  9. Sadly those who remastered the films didn't do their research properly. Before the LPTB was formed London buses and trams came in a variety of colours. The LCC tram above would have been painted largely in cream with only red dash and tumblehome, and a deeper shade to the LGOC buses. Also there is in the first film a bus of the City Bus company which would have had a brown/tan livery.
  10. It looked quite new, a white BMW, I couldn't see the registration. It did appear that the tyre walls were still attached to the wheels.
  11. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. The protesters on the QE2 bridge are still there as of five minutes ago. Most of the traffic has now cleared, half an hour delays (which is good for the QE2 bridge). Apparently the police are content to leave them (only two protestors) up there.
  12. They've closed the bridge so everyone has to use the tunnels causing more pollution. The bridge is often closed because of high winds anyway but the wind isn't strong enough at the moment. After last night's rain they must be soaked and with the wind chill factor at the top of the bridge they must be feeling pretty miserable by now, good!
  13. Morning all from Estuary-Land. It was pouring down last night so Arthur Itis started his rain dance. Its now stopped raining and a couple of Nurofen have put AI back in his box. I can proudly say that I have never watched either. My mum used to watch Coronation Street and Emmerdale but I paid little attention to them. My discount is added directly to my bill as I expect the repayment will be. My energy bill is almost the same in credit and a few months ago when prices shot up they wanted to double my monthly payments despite my being a considerable amount in credit. I suggested a figure 50% above what I was paying and they accepted that without demur. I'm still paying more each month than the cost of the energy I'm using, even in the coldest months but no one knows if energy prices are going to rise again so I'm leaving things as they are as a 'buffer' against future rises.
  14. Its now persisting down outside. Fortunately it is forecast to have stopped by mid morning tomorrow.
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I've been watching a program about the Glacier Express (Channel Four 7:00 pm). Another one for the bucket list. What is amazing is the on board catering serving three course meals to all 280 passengers from a miniscule kitchen. They also serve only local produce fresh not frozen. The get the requests from diners and the chef messages ahead what is required and it is ready to be loaded at the next station. Typical Swiss efficiency as @iL Dottore would say.
  16. When I went out this morning there was a car stopped on the A13 at the Pitsea flyover, it was a BMW fitted with low profile tyres. The tread of the O/S rear tyre had become completely detached from the tyre sidewalls. The driver had successfully brought the car to a stop with the tread and bits of rubber strewn across the road.
  17. Even more film of London, looks like it was from the same film crew.
  18. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Didn't spend much at the toy fair, £4.99 in all £2 on a second hand booklet on Portugese trams and £2.99 for a small diorama in a perspex box. Interesting subject, a Victorian print shop, scale approx 1/72. What with visiting Tess Coes afterwards bought Arthur Itis out of his cave so I had to take a couple of co-codamol and a stretch out on the bed with some eyelid inspection. Now for dinner, be back later.
  19. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Thanks to Arthur Itis most joints were seized up this morning and I could barely move. But I had to move before I wet the bed as painful as it was. However as soon as I started moving about the stiffness and the pain went. I haven't even needed to pop any pills but will take a couple before going out to the swapmeet. Probably less severe than in days past.
