  1. Doing yet more tiling in the bathroom, thankfully damn near finished. The disagreement I had with the tile cutting machine almost got very serious...

  2. Time for some Rainbow. Since you've been gone, All Night Long, I surrender etc! Oh yes!

  3. LNER C1 has arrived from Locomotion. Just as much of a thing of a beauty as the GNR version!

  4. Why are the Stansted ticket machines so consistently unreliable? At least there were a couple of blokes with the SPORTIS machines to sell tickets today, as per last week.

Blimey, SPORTIS machines went the way of the Dodo years ago. They are called Avantix these days.

Avantix can be a bl##dy pain sometimes bring back the ever reliable SPORTIS!!

  5. Consciousness.....Those annoying times before and after personal fatigue management....

  6. Well after many many years of using Peco, I've ordered some C&L bullhead track. Will be interesting to see the difference.

Once you start building your own track, your never go back to Peco track!

  7. What happened to all the mileposts on the ECML? NR Scotland are very good at maintaining and renewing theirs when required.

  8. Kevlar packed, vaccinations updated and money stashed in my shoes. Yup, it's time to visit the Wild West again for Model Rail Scotland!

  9. Stepped aboard a Scotrail 158 bound for Inverness with a sigh, thinking no connectivity as only the newer units have Wifi. However I'm very pleased to see that free Wifi has reached even these sets! Bravo Scotrail!

  10. Just realised that the cat is 17 years old next month, apparently 85 in human years. At least her highness has given up going on the prowl and bringing us "presents", now spends most of her time sleeping and annoying the dog.

There are worse places to be sent! Think of all the lovely whisky distilleries!

It wears thin after a while, especially since it takes me less time to get to Rome than it does Islay! Whilst I am partial to whisky, alas none of the Islay stuff holds much in the way of appeal.

It's from John Lewis and it did strike me initially that it might be a mechanical movement - although it isn't. I even read the instructions and no joy! Said prezzie is essential compo for my yet to be revealed impulse purchase of a K1 last week....

Should have kept it, then she'd have a proper excuse for being late !

  17. All WHL trains cancelled tomorrow in their entirety, First aren't even pretending to adopt a wait and see policy, and no replacement buses either. How nice of them.

  18. Furniture assembled, wall plaster repaired and man cave tidied. Too knackered to paint the bathroom now, will have to wait for another day...

  19. Note to self. Next time you install a sound chip double check it's not upside down before applying power - the burning smell is a bit of a giveaway....

  20. Just rigged up the test layout with a Bachmann EZ command system to try this new fangled DCC with a sound fitted 37. Very impressed, the play value alone is worth it - just like being 7 again (first train set).

It's very addictive. I started with the EZ and progressed in stages to the Pro Box. Sulzer 2 s are the ultimate in nostalgic fun!

A BRCW type 2 would be just the ticket, I may well scquire a Heljan 26 and see if I can have it sound fitted. I well remember playing in our garden as a sprog with the almost oft present sound of BRCW Type 2's in the background, ticking over with that distinctive put-put-put.

  21. Just spent a very frustrating couple of hours trying to fit a smokebox dart and some new handrails to a black five. Argh!

ah, Heljan, smoooooth, quiet, heavy, and will pull anything you put behind them.

  23. To hell with her indoors, the house is now resonating to "Kashmir" with volume and bass well up. Ok, she's out, but the sentiment is the same....

  24. I've had it for 3 days but I'm still gazing lovingly at my new P2, that and a few other Scottish locos has made it an expensive yet satisfying week.

  25. Really liking this months Bachmann calender image - a view close to my heart. Last month wasn't bad either, and rather appropriate bearing in mind the loco it represents.

Thought it funny they are advertising a Hornby loco....
