  1. The rake of scrap metal wagons is near enough complete for the layout (photo on Carr Crofts layout). I am wondering what other wagons that I could use, I know I could use my 16t minerals but are there any other wagons that are Ready to run or as a kit the era is roughly 1985 - 1995 ?
  2. My class 56 is a second hand model of 56128 West Burton Power Station, the buffers are glued in and it didn`t have a detail pack but it still looks great to me
  3. The issue I have is cleaning them after use to stop the nozzle bunging up, they do need shaking for a long time too before use, a few light sprays works best for me. Simon
  4. Do you have enough space at the back for a running shed or a wagon repair shed single line ? just to add a operational interest with an 08 to shunt the wagons around ? Simon p.s. I just got 56 128 today so I am after three dozen HAAs myself ( but am probably going to settle for 10 ).
  5. The Squares are one squre foot. Green locomotive is a DCC Ready Bachmann Junior loco http://www.uddingstonmodelcentre.com/Bachmann-JUNIOR/613.htm One of the red locos is a Hornby railroad Bagnall shunter http://www.hattons.co.uk/69465/Hornby_R3283_Bagnall_shunter_in_red_livery_Railroad_range/StockDetail.aspx The other red locomotive is a Knightwing kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/Knightwing-Railway-Diesel-Shunter-Locomotive/dp/B00DC1QHN8 Simon
  6. I have been doodling with another track plan because I am thinking of adding a small depot to the layout and took the comment of the points on board, and also a run round The scrap yard will have a couple of small locomotives on it, A Hornby sentinel, and a Bachmann Junior range loco, I am also thinking of getting a Heljan 05. The 08 is not going to be used on the scrap yard unless on a trip working, the industrial shunters would be doing the yard work I wont be making the layout just yet but later in the year so the photo of the shunting locos is on my Carr Crofts layout The revised plan The shunting fleet ( on Carr Crofts ) the Knightwing kit is not motored and has no wheels yet!
  7. The pictures are from a visit to Crossley Evans yard near Shipley railway station its not local to me however its easy to get to
  8. Have a look at this web page https://www.derbysulzers.com/holbecktwo.html
  9. In the 1990`s the DMUs would have been neville hill based units Class 141, Class142, Class 144, Class 150/2, Class 155, Class 156, and Class 158/9, Locomotives were generally Tinsley class 47s for Stourton freightliner terminal, Locomotives for the Tilcon stone train ( Class 31s, then Class 37s, then Class 60s ), Parcel locomotives ( Class 31 and 47 ) for Leeds Parcel Concentraition Depot, and Class 31 or 47 for the Leeds Settle Carlisle runs, also there was class 08`s for the local trip workings and Leeds station shunting moves. Other locomotives could turn up too like class 56s for fuel if Knottingley or Healy Mills depot had problems etc
  10. Hi Jamie I am still working on the track plan, the layout is a while away from being built ( I am still experimenting with things on Carr Crofts ). The length of the chain is also not right, looks too long. Parkside Dundas do small link chains so if I modify the cranes I might try that, or look out for something appropriate at the Warley show later in the year. You can see the chain on this crane at Crossley Evans.
  11. Hi Jamie, Under the buffer beam there is a small gap, so I have used a bent paper clip as a temporary measure, I have also isolated the motor removing the wire from the dummy bogie, and taken out two cogs so the 91 is free wheeling and powerless until I put a decoder in it later in the week when it arrives, the layout is powered by a gaugemaster prodigy express so I dont have DC only DCC The gap can be seen on this cropped hattons photo
  12. I couldn't resist this bargain from Frizinghall models and Railways (http://www.modelrailshop.co.uk/ ), 91014, DVT and two MK4 TSO`s £44.00, its not fitted with a decoder yet so 47436 will haul it around ( no OHLE neither so just imagine the catenary when it`s running! )
  13. The train may have run like in the photo on a holiday type train e.g to Paignton or Skegness but I couldn`t say for certain
  14. I think the train is in Derby, probably an empty stock move from or to the near by depot
