That sound like good advise, If you decide to go back as far as 56`s with coal sector markings try not to be tempted to go back further though ( red stripe / large logo ), There was diferent types of wagon HAA / HBA and some with modifications http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=PA19&style=&strType=&Mcode=Parkside+Dundas+PA19 Also livery's were changing for coal sector yellow wagons

Hornby skaledale cement hopper
SGJ replied to class37418stag's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
For grain, there is quite a few wagons http://www.hattons.co.uk/stocklist/SiteResults.aspx?searchfield=grain and for buildings http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=PK61115&style=main&strType=&Mcode=Piko+61115 http://www.gaugemaster.com/search_results.asp?searchstring=brand~~598~~brand%20category~~1229~~category+scale~~%ACoo%AC~~scale&style=&andor=&method=&strType=&OB=¤tpage=1 The Hornby scaledale building does look fine but there is more options with european / usa manufaturers too ( PIKO / WALTHERS etc.). -

About 30 years ago I tried a few types, the romford / Jackson Evans ones were great on my 47s and 45s etc they were a bit big looking however that was something that made them easy to use, I haven't had a Hornby 60 so don`t know how easy it would be to fit a similar type like smiths etc, Hornby are bringing out a new coupling http://www.hattons.co.uk/337887/Hornby_R7200_Pack_of_four_cosmetic_screw_couplings/StockDetail.aspx it does say cosmetic though. I had never noticed that before, and just presumed that the arrows were under the tops number the only 37 in plane grey that I have is 37162 https://www.flickr.com/photos/midland-road/9638648651/in/album-72157635327456066/ I have a few in grey / yellow dutch livery the cast arrows on that livery appear to be under the numbers. I have had a quick look at some 31 photos and they are the same in plane grey being the opposite side to the tops number

I have tried to strip the black paint from the Dutch livery 31 ( http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/106682-carr-crofts/?p=2834819 ) but it didn't go too well the revell paint remover also took the tops numbers off and made the arrows and depot plaque smudgy, it looked a right mess so I have decided to spray it BR blue, the first coat is done, another coat is required.
