  1. 66755 Tony Berkeley OBE waiting near Hell Fire Roundabout ( Armley Gyratory ) in Leeds this morning
  2. I have nearly finished the Walthers Ferrous Shear kit, it is near completion just needing a beam on the end, then painting and eventually weathering.
  3. 45128 had a busy afternoon, dropped off a rake of VGA`s and picked up an engineers train ( and lost its traction tire in the process - I wish I could find it! ), with the new Topes and the Grampus`s
  4. I don`t like the price of the Heljan Dogfish, just shy of £100 for 4 ( http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/57609/K4103-Heljan-Dogfish-Exclusive-Pack-of-4---BR-Civil-Engineers ) they look great though, at that price you can get 5 tope . Speaking of which I just got another tope from Frizinghall this morning.
  5. New wagon for Christmas, A Hornby tope
  6. Peters spares https://www.petersspares.com/ might have spares and also paints ( https://www.petersspares.com/paintsdyespowders.irc ) if spraying try two light coats allowing to dry before adding the second coat if using enamel paint try a consistency similar to milk ( I have not used acrylic so don't know how thick that should be ) you may also be able to get a colour in a spray can from a car shop like Halfords or motorsave or railmatch paint from howes of oxford
  7. I don`t know how long to cure paint, but the effect that it has had looks pretty impressive of flaking paint of an old vehicle or structure, it reminds me of some of the stock awaiting restoration on preservation sites
  8. Hi Jamie, whats the interesting story behind the unusual track ? Regards Simon
  9. I am not sure on the recent happenings with mk3s or HSTs but Scotrail I think has some shortened sets as far as I know which replaced some other stock that has gone to other operators like northern etc. I dont think HST power cars are compatible with mk1 mk2 mk4 or mk5 stock because of a differing train supply, likewise mk3 HST stock ( not west coast mk3 ) is not compatible with loco hauled stock for the same reason. So it would probably be cheaper to have power doors on mk3 HST stock than re engineer the train supply on over 190 power cars to a more wide spread train supply which would in turn have to re fit MK3 HST stock to the more wide spread train supply for the remaining mks3s that are not replaced with mk5s if that were to happen. I dont know the exact details of such stuff but when I was on the railways many years ago that was roughly what we were told ( except the electric doors mk3s and mk5s, the mk5 wasn't thought of and the mk3 were all slam door back then ) . When the 91s came in on the ECML in the early days the HST DVTs were used for train supply with the MK3 HST stock as well as other reasons such as to save the 91s running round at Leeds or London, but the 89 always had to run round in Intercity days ( I think it was only when GNER used the 89 with MK4s that it didn't need to run round ). Its all technical stuff and money related, and Im never good with that Simon
  10. I hope the mk5 stock will be made too, i would hope they are not too costly though but I don't think many people would have them though, it would probably be a 2021 release lol
  11. I am wanting to put a decoder into my Hornby class 60, is it just a clip fit, or does it have screws somewhere? it is a fairly recent release ( R3266 60090 Quinag ). On the service sheet, it looks like just 8 clips, four on each side, Is there anything I should know like wires from the chassis to the body or cab or are the 60`s like Bachmann with contacts for the cab and headlight connections. Thanks in advance Simon
  12. Sounds like a great idea, Its also a good excuse to get another for remembering to 47407 or 47413 ( 413 had a flush front at one end )
  13. Just collected my latest coach this afternoon, a MK4 first open coach, The set is still a F.O coach short but I can live with it until I find another second-hand bargain
  14. David, your influence is strong!
  15. Hornby 60090 Quinag is in charge of the scrap this evening
  16. I`m not too sure but think the center roads went when electrification came ( 1989 ish maybe ).
  17. I have started to put ballast down in the west yard, 47301 was the first to test it out, followed by 08021
  18. 08472 at the North end of Crewe station shunting what was new locomotives
  19. The loco looks ace, I think the intercity lettering is a bit smaller and starts further forward and the white on the roof should go further back but that is not important in my opinion, The loco still looks ace.
