  1. Beaminster show cancelled:( will be back on Feb or March :)

  2. SBL will be at the Beaminster show this weekend in sunny Dorset so drop by and say hello, follow the armchairs...

  3. I took the pictures for that model!
  4. For sculpting I prefer Games Workshop green stuff, it's a putty. It takes a while to dry but is easy to sculpt if you dip the tools in water to stop the putty sticking to them. It is particularly good for folds and creases, just put a bit of superglue on where you are going to stick it as it needs a bit of help sticking to plastic.
  5. And here is where we put the Conservative minister of transport...... (and The Weasel?)
  6. The psychological tormentors are worse, at least you get a bit of a laugh if one of your mates gets picked up by the collar and thrown into the corridor! I like those prints, were they commissioned by the railway or bought from local photographers?
  7. The subject of scale height vs what looks right to the viewer is a thorny topic as old as model making. I am amazed that nobody does specific chimney pots to order in 4mm, it might be a small niche but there must be a gap in the market there somewhere. You could call yourself "The Pot Man" and get massive web traffic from muppets on Google which you could use for advertising sales. Stupid business plans aside the row of houses looks terrific.
  8. It's amazing to think of Parafin lighting of signals lasting so long!
  9. Looks pretty smart work from here! I would say you were a P4 modeller the minute you started making the layout, its a state of mind (as opposed to a statement that you are mental!) Looking forward to the rest of the build.
  10. Well done! It's funny how teachers can stay in the memory. The weasel sounds like a proper bstrd. We had a temperamental chemistry master called "Doc Death" who was famous for bodily throwing people from his class if they failed to respect his subject or person.
  11. Well done, the only criticism I have is the lack of train sound, we would all enjoy the grumble of a big diesel. Good traffic and camera work, you would certainly get into trouble in the UK for getting so close to our fenced in railways. The container/ semi trailer train was a monster!
  12. How did I miss this! Great looking layout, I really should get more done on Kingsbridge as your (fully working) model is making me jealous!
  13. He clearly likes the company of the titled, as anyone who has seen Mr Harrap's bus pass can attest! It was mentioned in discussion about "extreme modelling" in relation to the 2mm scale sausages, cakes and other window dressings shown in the latest Frankland update!
  14. I was sat in the Bucks G20 the week before Xmas, it now only has the end seats to the original pattern. I will be up there again shortly if you need any specific pictures.
  15. Once again a beautifully observed and researched bit of modelling. The results would be considered amazing in 4mm but to incorporate that level of detail in 2mm/n is simply breathtaking. I have been making some small shops so know quite how tiny the window displays are, making those alone elevates the modelling here to the highest level, let alone the wonderful lunacy of the working blinds! I hope they have internal lighting to show off all that detail.
  16. Welcome, look forward to hearing and seeing more! Sounds like some proper modelling too.
  17. Interesting topic, anyone done one with the motors still in place on DCC? Or do they protrude into the cab?
  18. Your wiring sounds just like mine!
  19. Good job he was off the footplate, the fire on there looked like it was going to roast his chesnuts....
  20. Well its Xmas eve, everyone else has gone to the carols, peace reigns in my house!

  21. Well done! It's a big and satisfying step when something moves under power for the first time.
  22. Generally questions belong on the forums not in blog posts, look here for what goes where http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/47303-blog-quality/
  23. I have yet to see a software "upgrade" that didn't cause as many problems as it fixed....
