  1. I'm trying to catch up.....Worplesdon - nice golf course - but apparently no Buggies allowed until further notice
  2. Did You Know ? - An Occasional Series Highlighting Interesting Facts about ANTB - No1: Did you know that since "R-Day" 8th January 2014 (#2300) 6.51% of ANTB posts have contained the words "Rhino" or "Rhinos" ? See extract below: "356 out of the last 5,467 of posts on the ANTB thread of RMWeb mention the words "Rhino" or "Rhinos". Government guidelines recommend that a healthy RMWeb thread should have no more than a 5% Rhino content." (Source: The Office for National Statistics - RM Web Statistical Digest - published December 2014)
  3. Brought to you by The South Hams Gazette: Exciting news - frequent daily train services to return to Kingsbridge: http://www.southhams-today.co.uk/news.cfm?id=16566&searchWord=front page &searchYear=current Our reporter tried to contact ANTB to see if they were prepared to run weekday services from Brent to KIngsbridge as part of an integrated transport network for the South Hams. Unfortunately he was not able to get through: ANTB: "We are currently experiencing very high call volumes and all our Pension Advisors are busy .........Your call is important to us..... You are 157th in the queue.......(Greensleeeves)......." Edit for clarity
  4. I've changed my mind. For advice on selecting the right retirement age for you and free pension planning advice enter http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/69664-a-nod-to-brent/ in your search engine right now.
  5. You have landed on the ANTB Pensions Advice Thread. If you believe this is an error and you were looking for excellent GWR modelling then try: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/69664-a-nod-to-brent/ and you might get lucky.......possibly....
  6. Nope - other than deciding how many Disney "carols" to include in the programme and whether Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp will be Santa......but your joint venture with Mr Llewelyn-Bowen, designed to create a "Winter Wonderland" in South Brent, requires your immediate attention, as it is failing to meet visitor expectations at the moment:
  7. It's alright - ANTB's robust defence mechanisms won't let me view http://grahammuz.com/2014/12/01/black-and-blue-and-green-weekend-or-model-repainting/
  8. Alas you may not know that my full name is David Wilkins Micawber, but I am expecting that "something will turn up"...probably from Hornby .......eventually Sunday lunch was a trial today:
  9. Concrete and sky? I don't think we've had anything from the Channel Islands so far. Something left behind by Germans on Guernsey.
  10. Well that 'M' set is better than mine even with an unpainted coach: Seen together for the first time ever. Last week's photos convinced me that they would look best in blood and custard for my period. It looks as if I can "get away" with no door hinges, as the grab handles act as a "distraction" when viewing from a couple of feet away. Drilling for multiple door hinges is a modelling purgatory for me..... perhaps I should get a different hobby?
  11. Go in 1959 to be sure of catching O2 30236 at Wadebridge, before those Panniers arrived.Might even be able to fit in a trip to Bodmin Road behind it........ .........and don't forget to take the definitive pic of that elusive "Haig" advert on the loco shed...if it's there.....
  12. A couple of photos of the Finchings' abortive 1947 Wing Walk to Warley have just come to light: In the first photo both planes can be seen handling badly and struggling to gain height having just missed Langstone Rock shortly after take off from Haldon Aerodrome. The second photograph shows a "near miss" as one of the planes suddenly turns to head back to Haldon for an emergency landing. After jettisoning the Finchings' excess baggage, which had been causing all the earlier handling problems, their Polish pilots Zbigniew and Roman took off again from Haldon with the Finchings aboard. This time it was a conventional flight heading for Baginton (Coventry) Aerodrome, so that Zbigniew and Roman could meet with their former fellow pilots of RAF 308 (Krakow) Squadron and the Finchings could meet Rob and take up their positions on ANTB.
  13. Wrong - but I'm trying to hold out until Cyber Monday before buying my bargain Nescafe Dolce Gusto Cherry Red Coffee Machine by KRUPS.* In fact I'm going to buy four as retail therapy for missing out on Hornby's "Exeter", and I'll still have change from £135. *other "must have" coffee machines are probably available at similar prices.
  14. "Treasure Island" or whatever it's called nowadays seems to be missing - probably for the best though
  15. They were the jumentous Birmingham New Street Station bag ladies having a day out at Warley to avoid the crowds
  16. Those coaches and City of Truro covering an Exeter to Plymouth local in 1957 would good. Like this: Right number of coaches and livery, but wrong location (Sarfhampton) and some funny loco at the other end. Anorak mode on: P.s Rob are you sure about the coach running numbers, as unless I'm misreading the numbers, W4927W is fine for D95 (1927 build), but the other two may be wrong - W4582W was a Centenary Third (Comet W71) (and pictured in Russell), and W6607W was a 1936 Collett Composite (Comet W49). Anorak removed...
