  1. A couple of class 33’s in progress, certainly one the best MTK offerings.
  2. Looks good, and on a side note, did dc kits produce a resin and white metal /brass model of the 84 ? I ask as I have one of the latter.
  3. Used Lendens for the first time, having come across them from a forum post, excellent service and very keen prices especially for Hornby spares such as power bogies, great family business full credit to Rob on his communication and stock check before placing an order.

    Hornby RTC Stock

Amazing, in this day and age it should be easier to get colours correct, if a guy in a transit van can mix the correct colour for your car on your drive ,It beats me why the manufacturers and the Chinese can make such a dogs dinner of liveries. Surely with correct research the original colour codes ought to be available.
  5. I guess numbers will vary so much depending on the local demographics , people working from home etc. I travelled from Chelmsford to Canary Wharf A couple of times mid week Off peak , last week, I was slightly shocked how few people were travelling. In general face mask wearing was the norm with the odd exception, with plenty of staff on the overground the message was getting across really well visually, the jubilee line was generally well observed given how few staff were about, and the DLR not quite so good , only one notice on each platform and none on the trains... more about distancing, but then perhaps their view was that the DLR poses a lower risk .?
  6. Many thanks I will have a look
  7. Hi does anyone know if this company is still in business .? I ask as I am after a non pancake compact and low sitting power bogie with 00 guage class 47 wheel spacing dimensions, and they look as if they do/ did a co-co unit that would fit the bill.
  8. And then they do the Floyd livery... that’s got to be the ultimate white elephant... assuming they don’t have. a change of heart or there is a massive east European market hiding.
  9. Latest project finished, MTK 40 , this was the basket case some of you may have seen being on sale last year by a south York’s retailer for stupid money... I just kept watching it until they saw sense. Sits on a mainline 45 chassis so is a tight fit, but runs beautifully. Now dressed as 40012 one of the Crewe infrastructure locos using railtecs excellent transfers
  10. Krystal klear is. Another similar product to glue and glaze,I have found it’s a little better in the glaze not being so opaque.... the application is as others have said all down to practice and patience.
  11. Hi Andy, just looked at mine and measured , the wheel size , bogie axle spacing are all the same on the kestrel, lion and 47, ....so common rail production as you could say, and therefore no drive shaft differences.
  12. I would hope this moves into sales, after all Heljan seemed to have no issues with the lion, falcon & kestrel.
  13. Very impressive something to be proud of fran even at this stage!!! , definitely carries a presence.
  14. Bostix make a good plastic glue which I have found works well on shiny plastics, I think b&q sell it.

    Hornby Class 56

The price is also a good indicator the original Dapol.mainline/ early Hornby should cost you no more than £40, and the later Hornby models more likely the other side of £60.00. The early models also had a crew and the coupling is part of the bogie, and also smaller and more produced curve on the front screen, traction tyres, a ring field type power unit along with less pronounced bogie detail.... but that aside the best rtr available Deseil for a long time until Bachmann/ Hornby upped their game.
  16. Meths and a cotton wool bud are another easy option. .... the eBay item, I hope no one gets stung by that offering as it’s no longer 1st April

    EBay madness

I see if you look at Lima locos , a seller is almost trying to dominate the market with loads of buy now items, some rare but in the main over the top prices... good luck to him I think he is in for a long wait.
  18. What a great master class, I hope for many it disperses the myths around the much maligned Mtk range ,and that with patience and ... some imagination decent stock can be built with budgets directing the choice of chassis and power unit.
  19. Hi, the 25/3 is a cracking little model and ideal to cut your teeth on when you can find one., I will try and dig out mine and post some pics The attach photos are of a 25/1 I picked up off eBay last year for the cost of a lower end Lima loco, it is powered with two triang units and had been assembled really well, and was just lacking glazing which I have completed with mixture of sef and Perspex sheet filed down which takes a little while and patience and is worth the effort, the head code is from the excellent railtec pack, i renumbered to capture a loco in green with tops numbers.I also added some small pads inside to absorb the sound resonance. As with many second hand items, it was a little hesitant in running, but. a good clean of the wheels etc. and an oil it runs surperbly.
  20. Having seen the model yesterday at Stevenage it looks stunning and that is pre any glazing or painting, the pantograph is especially of note, well done guys again, and I do feel their pain of probably having spent two full days discussing the same issue with everyone who stopped for a chat.
  21. Ignore the finally .. fat fingers ..should read ' and for sharing '
  22. Hi , looks great again, it's amazing how well an aged body scrubs up particularly with the flush glazing and a decent pantograph, what brand of pantograph gave you used ? I wonder what conversations went on in the past when Hornby purchased Lima , in consideration to a minor up grade / tooling to use the Lima 87 one. Have a great Christmas and thank finally sharing and inspiring.
  23. Many thanks everyone, that sorts me out for a short project with a spare airfix body shell.
  24. Hi , did any class 31’s make it from green to having a 5 digit tops number ? Prior to being painted br blue ? I am wondering particularly about the green locos which carried the br arrows ?
  25. Genesis kits used to produce a pair of pewter cabs which marry easily to an early Hornby Hst body ( bein correct as it has the rear driving cab), although the bogies were awful, and Lima’s more accurate.... the only downside for you is that I think the chap who ran genesis kits retired , someone on the forum may know the current state of play... and of course i might be wrong and apologies if so.
