  1. Somebody going to be in trouble for leaving that main reservoir pipe hanging, looks like it could foul stuff when running. Otherwise, looking really good. Roy
  2. Don’t see there being any possibility of a 47. With Bachmann’s being as good as it is, what would make it viable? Ok, Bachmann are not releasing many, but they could change that quickly if there was competition announced. Deliberately not mentioned Heljan as the Bachmann model is superior in my opinion and, therefore, the greater competition. Roy
  3. Simple looking in, but as we have seen, Bachmann aren’t sitting on a giant pile of money. Every run takes cash to create before those sales can be realised generating profit on that capital employed. Any business has to balance its cashflow. In the UK more businesses fail* through cashflow issues rather than a lack of orders. * in no way suggesting Bachmann are failing, just showing how important it is to stay on top of money in/out. Roy
  4. As slow as that? I thought MGR discharge was at 4mph. Every day a learning day. Roy
  5. Yes and no. As @MidlandRedsaid, if that includes stock that is in transit, that may be mostly sold already, but still could show as stock held until it is dispatched to the buyer / retailer and the invoices paid. Roy
  6. Yep, it changes regularly, another day there is a load of steam. Roy
  7. But, again, do we know how widespread those issues are? RMWeb is great, but it also makes mountains out of molehills at times. Any manufacturing process will have failures, that does not mean they are all wrong. Roy
  8. But you have no facts to back up those statements, and nor do I to counter them. Hornby may be sitting there with the sales figures stunned at the complaints on here and, metaphorically, laughing all the way to the bank. A few months from now, let’s see what is getting sold off cheaply, then we can make a better informed judgement. Roy
  9. And there in lies the conundrum for many businesses. Hornby’s financial position isn’t great, yet it wants to compete. Just releasing “standard“ models may not be enough, but to fully develop the next initiative may not be financially viable. What we see is probably the compromise that meets many of their customers’ needs. Roy
  10. Although some retailers suggest diesel is now outselling steam. Without all the actual sales figures, we do not know. Roy
  11. There will probably be some political pressure through the DfT to take the Mk5s thus avoiding bad news as we run towards a general election. Roy
  12. And you are now the proud winner of a ticket to the back of the queue 😉 Roy
  13. Don’t need software, it is easily configured in DCC. Roy
  14. I didn’t unfortunately. I was trained as an electronic engineer so relatively simple for me. I am away at the moment, when I am back I will pop the body off and take some photos. Roy
  15. Funny, when I look at 00, I see 9 steam, 11 diesel, most rolling stock. Roy
  16. I hardwired a small decoder in my four, a Zimo a MX616R by memory. A fairly straightforward job. Roy
  17. I can’t help feeling that there is confusion here between writting off assets and recovering the costs of tooling. You can recover the costs, i.e. recoup the costs of paying for the tooling costs, and make your desired profit margin on a first run. That tooling still has value on the books, but there is no hole as alluded to above. Roy
  18. Saltaire crosses included on this sheet from @railtec-models if you want to add them: https://www.railtec-models.com/showitem.php?id=1045 Roy
  19. Language evolves, that is life. Always has, always will. Just don’t get stressed by it, it achieves nothing. Roy
  20. We all know the sea food diet joke Andy 😉 Roy
  21. Don’t forget that the price of Bachmann is regularly discountedand the that Accurascale stock rarely gets discounted. In both cases profit will be being made, the costs are broadly similar in my opinion and the business models not so vastly different. Roy
  22. That is often said, but I had no issues converting mine to DCC. I wonder if the tolerances are a bit wayward? Roy
  23. 47s were quite squat, and ironically did look a bit tubby. As soon as I saw a head-on photo of the Heljan offering it looked “pinched” and too tall/thin, and that was without comparing it. Roy
  24. Looks pretty much spot on to me compared to photos at the same angle on Flickr. Roy
  25. The 104 is looking like it may be one of Heljan’s crackers. I am looking forward to it, but my don’t pre-order Heljan rule still applies. Roy
