RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted May 6, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 6, 2018 Some of the comments on Hornby's posts about this on Facebook really do demonstrate that certain people really do need a visit from the men in white coats to take away their keyboards and take them back to their little padded room...

RMweb Gold tomparryharry Posted May 6, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 6, 2018 Hornby.JPG That looks nice, but is it the long-awaited Peckett? From here, I'm looking at the headstock, with a set of bolts/rivets set behind. Also, the buffing stock is set higher, which clues us onto smaller wheels. Cheers, Ian. RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted May 6, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 6, 2018 Well that has me baffled so I give up waiting and good luck to you all. P
RMweb Gold BlueLightning Posted May 6, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 6, 2018 Hornby.JPG Those are Peckett buffers. So I guess we can expect some new liveries for that. See this shot of the green Peckett's buffers below for comparison. Gary

FJ1701
I think it's a Terrier! Well if its a terrier then that would be an absolute waste of time by Hornby considering Rails have already joined with Dapol to produce a new 00 model.
GreenGiraffe22
Well if its a terrier then that would be an absolute waste of time by Hornby considering Rails have already joined with Dapol to produce a new 00 model. Not necessarily, if they announce new tools that undercut Rails...?
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted May 6, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 6, 2018 Well that has me baffled so I give up waiting and good luck to you all. P Dear Baffled That is a great idea to give up because it will not be suitable for your layout.
Denbridge
So, unless todays Hornby clue is a red herring, its a peckett which everyone already knows about.
Big James
Could it be another Peckett design like W3 or W5 to accompany the W4 they already do. Big James
Denbridge
Could it be another Peckett design like W3 or W5 to accompany the W4 they already do. Big James Guess so. But there will be a lot of disappointed people if after all this, it is just a livery announcement. Lol

Les1952
Probably not a Terrier as the buffers are too low relative to the footplate. If a Peckett how about an X-type 0-6-0ST? Les

EdChap
Perhaps it is a Peckett that is not painted and comes with a selection of Humbrol paints and 29 sets of transfers, so that you can make your own individual Peckett….. Ed Chap
G-BOAF
Not a terrier. Given this is a specialist forum, I'm surprised people can make such suggestions. The buffers on the terrier are VERY distinctive in terms of their relatinoship to to the buffer beam. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LB%26SCR_A1_class_locomotives#/media/File:Stroudley_Terrier.jpg Sorry if this sounds a little harsh... I am confused now given the hit of the coach/multiple unit that was dropped earlier, and now this Peckett-looking buffer beam...
rovex
They said "29 surprises". Not "a 29 surprise". So the grammar suggests more than one item. A new Peckett livery is presumably one of them.

RMweb Premium Legend Posted May 6, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 6, 2018 Supplements to the 2018 announced range , with perhaps a range of models in there , some new tooling ( the DLR hint) and some reliveries ( the Peckett) . Not long till a wee while noo

JSpencer
I think it's a Terrier! Buffer beam and shanks are the wrong shape. On the terrier, while the buffer shanks stick almost half way above the foot plate, the buffer beam starts from the top and goes below it,
Hroth
Hornby.JPG It probably just means that the three outstanding Pecketts will arrive on (or after) the 29th of May, or June, or July, or.....
