When should we expect to see livery samples of these?

We should see them in December, our tooling amendments from a snag list are currently under way, so they will come first. Once completed we we see them on decoration samples.

Cheers!

I am really looking forward to seeing these in the flesh. I'm rather quite excited to be honest. If this model is anything like the waggons in terms of detail and accuracy then this locomotive is going to be a real treat indeed !!

...And a shot of the assembled model to whet the appetite:

thanks for the pic--that looks just superb, even before it's got its Pre-TOPs:D BR Blue livery -- time to start saving those sponds.

cheers,

Very nice indeed.  How long before these drop on to the door mat?

You're not seriously thinking of dropping it, are you? :o

Just wondering if there will be a representation of the strengthener half way along each radiator slat, as seen here:

Bachmann did not bother:

But interestingly for all it's faults, the Lima Deltic did:

It's quite obvious from many photos in this thread that these grille supports will be present on the new Deltic.

As for the Lima version the less said the better !

Great news, roll on DP2 and the prototype (DP1- tho no-one used that term at the time)

With respect, I don't see them either. Look at the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsLQp93Y71o

That market has been saturated by the NRM/Bachmann version. There were examples selling at Warley for £150, quite a bit lower than the dizzy £200 odd that they were going for in the early days on eBay.

Fair enough-but did Heljan satisfy the DP2 market...not bad but it did have a few wrinkles

Agreed, the Heljan DP2 was flawed.

I feel the operator playable sound decoder samples should include the "Oh yeah" that concludes Satchmo's 'Wonderful World'.

At launch it was between this model and Hornby's 60 for best OO diesel on the market. Had Bachmann executed all their BR diesel traction models with equal finesse there would have been fewer opportunities for competitors to offer significant improvement.

Whole new body to tool, for a short time in service two livery rarity. Big ask when a great many of those interested will already have purchased the Heljan model.

Indeed. Those pointy windscreens (amongst the other numerous issues) on the Heljan example are awful. Really wanted an 0 gauge version but every time I look at it.............na. No way. Yet the Peak is lovely!
