  1. Past hour
  2. Not built a building for a month or so, well not for the narrow gauge at least. Another from Fos Scale, this a low relief for the backscene in Lucyville. Built pretty much as per instructions, though I have added an extension to the loading platform. I will be adding some steps for the platform. Once done, I can get it weathered. Might add another vent or two. It's making me think of adding an extra spur/siding along where this will go, to serve it and the other buildings seen a page or two back, but have it infilled so road vehicles can also have access.
  3. Or asked at the aforesaid "corner video shops" if they had any "other videos" under the counter.....
  4. Again interesting Mike, to see the difference between the two. You will have a complete fleet of these soon. I am still amazed that the crew stood on the back of that as it hurtled along at 60 mph.
  5. What a complete b****r....just when you are least expecting it or need it Along with any subterranean bracing - would a substantial backscene help stabilise matters? C
  6. Because some unknown kid combined the two, and 'Kitten Kong destroy Slough!'
  7. Leicester Bristol RE 122 making its debut at todays Quorn Bus Event after full restoration to original LCT condition, 30+ years after it was last on the road....... After use in Leicester, it was puchased by Ipswich Borough Transport in 1980 and ran there until 1987, being sold for presrvation in 1989.
  8. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - AC/DC
  9. Memories of those older Atlanteans is that the torque converters were very 'tight' and imposed considerable load on the engine at tickover - far more than one would experience with an automatic car. The result was engine revs pulled down to a lower than ideal tickover and working noticeably against he brakes, vibrating quite badly as a result.
  10. Why is the cucumber sandwich on this list? Who eats those things? Disgusting. (I'm not sure my Lab would eat them! Just kidding, of course it would, but ...) CNN: 24 of the world’s best sandwiches You'll be happy to know the chip butty makes the list. No hot dogs or burgers on the list. And yes, they are sandwiches.
  11. You are absolutely correct and have not misunderstood, many thanks for pointing this out. This is what happens when I try and think ahead, without engaging my brain first. Since posting, I had worked out that it would be necessary to cut a slot or remove some material from the sand boxes (as you suggested). That's where I'm at now and am working on the best tool for the job. The sand boxes are cast brass and will present a challenge to work on but I think I should be able to work something out 🤪 There's a problem at the rear end as well but I think I can drill through the chassis to allow the buffer pin to move inwards when the buffer is depressed.
  12. Can't think why those sets aren't available anymore!
  13. Lowburn Park (Stand 10) As seen in MRJ, a 4mm scale, P4 gauge, North Eastern Railway layout set in 1905-10. Although it is imaginary, it is located on an actual route somewhere west of Newcastle. The NER began operation of electric stock in 1904 using a third rail DC system. On the model, electric locos work the goods lines bringing in and taking out freight or empty wagons. On the main lines at the front of the layout, steam locos haul local and semi-fast passenger trains plus ordinary goods workings. Roy Photo supplied by Lowburn Park team
  14. You just bend the ring up, not down and then get busy with the tweezers and thread… D
  15. They do? do you have a link for these?
  16. "Planaria are flatworms in the phylum Platyhelminthes with amazing regeneration abilities giving them the title 'immortal under the edge of a knife'. There are many different species that inhabit freshwater, marine and terrestrial ecosystems." One bunch of kids were making fission weapons in their bedrooms, whilst another lot were a step away from becoming the new Victor Frankenstein!?

  18. And here's the but........... The shelf used as a board is 38mm deep as opposed to the 50mm IKEA table tops of past layouts, a change imposed when the originals were discontinued. I noticed this afternoon that there appeared to be a slight bow and a check revealed that this was in fact the case. In fact, more than a slight bow. The 'board' has warped giving a deflection of about 5mm on each end. This is the current state of play........ Removing the books from one end and allowing the board to spring up illustrates the problem. A pity as adding a bit of colour provides an insight into how it will look. I can bring it back true by adding a bit of strategically placed weight..... So I'm going to try a bit of bracing whilst the weight is on. At this late stage it's all I can do as I have no time to start again.. Rob

    Vulcan..

BBC news reporting that a local resident has complained that engine noise from static tests is causing extreme distress. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c51133471m8o.amp Considering the war games currently going on with 60 yr old jets acting as enemy targets, I wouldn't mind living near a perceived cold war threat in this day and age...
  20. As ever Kim's Bookshop finds a weakness...

Anyone produced an O. Winston Link stylised layout?

  21. A friend of mine has a real TK, and has taken measurements directly from it which confirm that the Dinky cab is within a coat of paint thickness of 1/43 scale. He has used several of them as the basis of conversions for lorries on his 'O' gauge layout.
  22. In the USA today a stick shift is reckoned to be the best car anti theft device.
