RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted March 25, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 25, 2016 100 pages, take away the pages when it was a roundy roundy. Remove the post about other layouts. Delete the adverts for Easter Eggs and Mince Pies. As well as getting rid of the daft comments by that Mortimore bloke and you are down to 10 pages. Well done Andy. I agree Clive, the FIRST 54 Pages were the roundy roundy, many many pages of drivel, but from page 54 its stayed FAIRLY on track and informative. But as for that Mortimer bloke from darkest Essex, well you can pick your friends, but you cant always pick your posters. hahhahah :sarcastichand:
Andrew P
This evening I've fitted 3 Link Couplings to the China Clay Rake, excluding the outer end which remains Kadee fitted. EDIT = To say that I know there over scale, I would have preferred to use the smaller Smiths Steel ones, (these are Martiks)but they can always be changed at a later date. Amazingly its gained a massive 2 and half inches in the total rake length, i.e. another wagon.

Andrew P
The 3-links do look the part Andy, Cheers Mate, luckily / HOPEFULLY they will not need Coupling / Un-coupling as it's a fixed Rake.

Andrew P
Well another cracking Day, Numbers through the door as per yesterday and so both Days up on last year. Anyway I've been doing some weathering again and a couple of items that needed doing was two of the Brake Vans. As new. I painted it with some Dirty Tamyia Acrylics and then whilst still wet wiped it off downwards. The final result but needs the Fluff from the Tissue taken off. andyram
Very nice work. I had my Midland 3F ready to bring on Sunday but left it on kitchen table in the madness that was getting my daughter ready. I am glad you had decent numbers through the door. A very nice, friendly event.
Andrew P
I also did a couple of Full Brakes, Firstly on the WR one, I went around the Door Frames with a Grey Humbrol wash, it's supposed to run into the groves leaving a look of an actual Door, but with little success, although the streaking down the body side did work well. I then did the Green / Southern one and again I went around the Door Frames, but this time it was a little thicker and left on for a few moments longer and seems far better, I will now re do the WR one later in the week. EDIT = I have since very lightly weathered the Under frame and Bogies.
Andrew P
Since going for a nice walk with the Dogs this morning, I've been sorting out the Fiddle Yard into a proper running order ready for serious running, and allocating each road to a designated Service. No 1 = WR Local, AutoCoach and Loco or the Class 121 Railcar. No 2 = Through Passenger Service, Bristol / Padstow and Back SR / WR Stock and Motive Power. No 3 = SR Local. No 4 = China Clay / Mixed Goods from the Mileage Siding, this is exchanged by the Pick Up Goods No 5 = WR Pick Up Goods. No 6 = SR Pick Up Goods. No 7 = WR ''B'' Set can add Van or Milk. No 8 = Wenford Bridge Local Goods. No 9 = Truro / Helston Milks. can add a Van. EDIT = To say that MOD and Engineers Trains can also be mixed in, and Boscarne Engineering can sometimes Run with the Wenford Bridge Traffic or on its own, (the Cards will decide, NOT ME). Siding No 1 Sidings 2 - 9 Mileage Siding to exchange with China Clays. Goods Yard for Pick Up Goods / Through Goods Exchanges.
380John
Nice work Andy, Really like how you've explained what your thinking is and demonstrated with pictures. Really helps to 'see' the layout without actually being there and may also help with pinching ideas but I couldn't possibly comment?! John

John Hi John, I pinched them off of John Flann, see his Hintock Thread or better still for a full account of how his Fiddle Yard / Staging Yard, (Americanism) works see his on line Book at https://www.hintockbranch.com/ Cheers and please PINCH AWAY as far as I'm concerned mate. Andrew P
With the WTT sorted, and the Fiddle Yard sorted, (see above) the next step is to transfer it to a set of Index Cards, and then fit to a Ring Binder and attach to the side of the Fiddle Yard. Once done I need to write up the Playing Cards for the Wagon / Van Fleet, I was surprised how many I need for variety in service. The Loco Fleet is now complete and so that's the last major expenditure out of the way. Bachmann are producing an Ivatt 2MT Tank this year, it's DCC Fitted and would be almost a necessity for the SR Side of the workings but at a MASSIVE £157.95 I can live without it for now.
