RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 9, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 9, 2016 Hello, everyone. Thank you all for your contributions, they are all so welcome. I particularly like the information about those barriers at Warthill. Tonight, I have a photo' of the engine that has been in the news. It is LNER A3, 4472, 'Flying Scotsman'. The photo' was taken at York on 26th, July, 1987.It was only a few minutes after this photo' was taken that she moved forward off the carriages that formed the stock of The Scarborough Spa Express, and derailed just to the south of York station. We were diesel hauled by two class 20's back to Scarborough. With regards, Rob.

It came slowly past me and the front bogie wheels came off the rails right in front of me, I got it all on tape! I think the loco was just to big and heavy for the very old sleepers and chairs as it broke the chairs and spread the track. Ian
Judge Dread
I'm intrigued by the truck waiting patiently on the other side. Any ideas as to what it might be? steve I believe it's a Fordson 7v lorry. Ugly brute isn't it?

That is very interesting, and thank you for relating what you saw of the derailment that day. You don't still have the recording by any chance? If so I would be interested in seeing it if that would be alright with you. With regards, Rob.
silverlink
Hello, Ian. That is very interesting, and thank you for relating what you saw of the derailment that day. You don't still have the recording by any chance? If so I would be interested in seeing it if that would be alright with you. With regards, Rob. I have loads of videos that I took in the 1980's (is it that long ago!) Although I was recording on VHS when I look at it now most of it is pretty good. The Spa Express used to run Tues, Thurs and Sunday so I used to go away from Scarborough on the Tuesday (my day off) and Sunday and on the Thursday I would time my lunch with the train coming into Scarborough. I finished work a 5pm so a quick rush up to the station to get it going out. I got most of the locos that came in the 80's, I think the only one I didn't get was Lord Nelson, I did also get some of the diesel traction running in the 80's. I'm trying to edit them so I can sell them like I did in the 80's only using more up to date editing equipment but I'm so busy with my layout 'Haymarket Cross' going to shows and maintaining it and also building a new 0 gauge layout at my local club I just don't seem to have any time. One day I'll get them done. Ian

That's the only way I've seen her in the Flesh (!),same as in that photo right there. To me that will always be the look of 4472 that I like best. But that's just me. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 11, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 11, 2016 Thank you for the link to that silent film about Cottingham station in 1973. It is so nostalgic. Unfortunately a "Network Error" happened about half way through. I will try and see the rest of the film a little later on. With best regards, Rob. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 11, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 11, 2016 Hello, everyone. Tonight I have a couple of photo's. The first one is of a class 185, 185148, at Scarborough station, in June, 2014. The second one is from a train of Oxmardyke Signal Box. Please excuse the quality - I thought I would incude this one since it is an angle of the box which is rarely, if ever, seen. It dates from the Autumn, 2014. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 12, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 12, 2016 Hello everyone. Tonight two completely different photo's. Firstly a photo' of an unidentified class 37 running down to Bridlington, at Beverley station on 19th June, 1982. Then a view of a class 144, 144015 approaching Beverley from Hull in May, 1987. micknich2003
H&BRly Class K, 0-4-0WT, seen on Alexandra Dock, c1920. I'm gathering information so I can build a Gauge 1 model, and I'm now looking for details of the boiler fittings. A near identical, but saddle tank version exists at Didcot, but has long had a replacement GWRly boiler fitted. Todate, the usual Tinternet search, has lead me nowhere.
westernglory
As a kid born and raised in Driffield, I'm really enjoying watching this thread - many thanks to all contributors. My 'holy grail' photo-wise is to see a shot of a Class 14 hydraulic somewhere between Beverly and Brid.....I don't suppose anyone has one that would be kind enough to post do they? Thanks..... Hals1967
Another view from the crossing of Oxmardyke signal box,11/2004. Rob I spent lots of time spotting at Oxmardyke as a youngster. In inclement weather my mates and I would shelter in the small coal\wood shed situated on the boxes eastern side. Looks like the shed has gone in those pics. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted January 14, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 14, 2016 Hello everyone. Thank you, Mick, for the signalling diagram of Oxmardyke. Tonight I have the first of a series of photo's of a possession at Beverley North, on 29th January, 1989. It was cold and sunny. The up line was being renewed from 45 foot bullhead rail to CWR. I hope that you will find the photo's of some interest over the next few nights. The line looking to Driffield: A low level view of the crossing and trolley: The line looking towards Beverley station, and the new sleepers can be seen: A class 31 can be seen on the engineers train: With regards, Rob.

JeffP
How very odd.
