Hi. Tonight I have a photo' of Brough East Signal box which I took from the train - hence some lighting effects - on my way back from Doncaster. It is a blurry view, but hopefully, it might be of some interest.

Hi, Roy. That is a lovely photo which you have not posted before. If you have any more please post them. Thank you.

With best regards,

Rob.

P.S. The year will be 1988.

Rob,

Here's 4468 backing down onto the train at York (same day in 1988 as I recall it) and 92220 at Scarborough in 1976 (both scans).

Not much more from East Yorkshire - is NYMR acceptable?

Regards,

Roy

Hi, Roy. Excellent photo's. The NYMR is not that far from East Yorkshire, especially Pickering, so lets say it is OK to post photo's of it on here. I have plenty of photo's of that line myself.

With best regards,

Rob.

Thank you, Simon Lee for that photo' of 55005 in early 1981. It brings many memories back.

And thank you Ian for that lovely photo' of B16 61455 in 1961. Very atmospheric.

Tonight we are having a look at Driffield from August of last year. It shows a class 158 DMU entering the station on a service to Hull.

I've been trying to get something out of my Dairycoates photos from February '64 but so far nothing acceptable.  The film was damaged long before most of the frames were printed - all I've got is a couple of quite indistinct prints, but I'll keep trying with them.

Next trip back east over the Pennines was July '64 for a 3 or 4 day visit.  Some of it I remember very clearly, much of it is a complete haze!  I know I went by train & I was on my own rather than with parents - I've got a memory of wandering round Leeds, seeing a Deltic in Central station, bunking Holbeck & Neville Hill and drawing a blank at Copley Hill.

From Hull I took the train to York, then on to Darlington & West Hartlepool - I remember nothing of the journey north but I do vividly remember the journey back.  I caught the wrong train at Darlington & instead of heading down the mainline to York I realised I was on a train to Harrogate - I spent most of the journey in the toilet hoping that I wouldn't be discovered by a ticket inspector!

On eventual arrival at York I found my way up Leeman Road to the shed yard & took 3 photos.  This was 17th July.
