RMweb Gold Market65 Posted October 11, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 11, 2018 Good evening, everyone, and thank you Mick and Ian for the illuminating discussion about those signals. I’ve found it both enjoyable and educational - that’s a lovely model, Mick. Tonight we return to Selby, and see another train coming off the swing bridge. This time it’s an up class F freight headed by ex LNER B16/3 4-6-0 number 61418. Again taken by Ben Brooksbank, and courtesy of the Creative Commons License. The date is again the 5th April, 1957. Again the photo’ is by Ben Brooksbank, and reproduced courtesy of the Creative Commons Licence. It shows a view of a B16/1 4-6-0 61436. The photo’ was taken, looking North East from the Park St. Bridge, on the ECML towards York, and Hull, ex-North Eastern junction. The lines in the left foreground go to Leeds, so the train is going up the ECML towards Doncaster. Best regards, Rob.

Hi Rob, Agree that the freight train is on the ECML, but I don't think the lines on the left are the Leeds lines, the Leeds lines branch off after Park Street bridge (behind the camera). The lines on the left you refer to go to Selby loco.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted October 14, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 14, 2018 (edited) Thank you, Ian. I thought I had it wrong. . My apologies. Tonight we are back in York, and the York North Locomotive Yard. It shows the coaling plant, and the following engines: The nearer locomotives include Gresley V2 2-6-2 number 60858 (built 5/38 as LNE No. 4829, withdrawn 10/63). Peppercorn A1 4-6-2 number 60127 'Wilson Worsdell', built 5/49, withdrawn 6/65, and his K1 2-6-0 No. 62005, built 6/49, withdrawn 12/67, which was the last of the class and was preserved. waggy
Hi Rob, Agree that the freight train is on the ECML, but I don't think the lines on the left are the Leeds lines, the Leeds lines branch off after Park Street bridge (behind the camera). The lines on the left you refer to go to Selby loco. The lines on the left are the goods lines from Selby Station which joined the Leeds line at Selby West. The lines ran behind the engine shed, connections from it served the shed. There are two pictures of the line in the book Railway Memories No. 14 Selby & Goole on page 59, one taken from Selby West Signal Box looking east with K3 61945 on the Leeds line on a westbound goods, the goods lines clearly shown on the left, the second of a Ivatt Class 4, 43057 hauling a eastbound freight behind the closed engine shed. Also a map of the shed area on page 62 which shows the lines Edited October 14, 2018 by waggy

Rob, many thanks for posting. Judge Dread
Rob, many thanks for posting. I find that the D49 design was rather elegant; note to self; ...'make more of an effort to go and see preserved D49, Morayshire'....Like 71000, I have never seen this loco. Shame on me! Unfortunately the only time I saw that particular locomotive, it was not so elegant. I understand it had been providing steam to a local business. 1
DOCJACOB
Indeed it was, to a laundry business in Slateford Edinburgh if my memory serves me correctly until 1/62. Subsequently preserved at SRPS with a few places between? Never seen an image of her in stationary service and looks like this is actually after use as stationary boiler. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted October 17, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 17, 2018 Good evening, everyone. Tonight we are in Seamer having a look at the station as it was back on the 20th June, 1992. Several changes have taken place since then including the change to colour light signalling, and demolition of one of the two signalboxes on the left of the photo’. The platform waiting shelters have been replaced and the housing development to the right of the line is now complete and covers the whole of that area. Again the photo’ was taken by Ben Brooksbank, and is reproduced courtesy of the Creative Commons Licence. Best regards, Rob.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted October 18, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 18, 2018 Good evening, everyone. Tonight I have a further photo’, by Ben Brooksbank, courtesy of the Creative Commons Licence, of York, taken on 26th May, 1958. It shows a Whit-Monday excursion train - probably from Leeds - running non-stop on one of the through roads, headed by ex-LNE B16/1 4-6-0 No. 61432. The coaching stock appears to be at least two twin arts: BS&CL, CL&possibly S. A shame carriage four is mostly hidden away. They are steel panelled examples. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted October 19, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2018 Good afternoon, everyone. Today we are in Malton, on June 24th, 1988. Again, Ben Brooksbank took the photo’, which is reproduced courtesy of the Creative Commons Licence. It shows a class 150 unit leaving the station for Scarborough, and about to cross over the level crossing adjacent to which there was a footbridge which this photo’ was taken from. The footbridge has since been demolished. I think the unit is 150246. Best regards, Rob.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted October 21, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 21, 2018 Good evening, everyone. Tonight it’s a return to York on the 11th, April, 1960. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted October 25, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 25, 2018 Thank you, Mick for those two fantastic photo’s, with particular reference to the second one of Hesse station c1900. So different to how it was when it became four tracks, and, of course, how it is today now it’s back to two tracks. Tonight I have a return visit to York on the 11th, April, 1960. A further photo by Ben Brooksbank, courtesy of the Creative Commons Licence. It shows a V2 and two EE Type 4 diesel locomotives. The details given are as follows: The Gresley V2 2-6-2 on the 07.17 Colchester via Lincoln to Newcastle is No. 60948 (built 6/42 as No. 3650, withdrawn 9/63). The Type 4 1-Co-Co-1 (later Class 40) diesels are Nos. D254 and D258 (built 12/59 and 2/60, withdrawn respectively as 40054 in 12/77 and 40058 in 9/84).
