RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted February 11, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2017 So, these two wires, well it was two then I cut them into lots... Electromagnets have been fitted and on board 2 have been partially wired, on board 1 they still need wiring.

RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted February 12, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2017 Last job for tonight is to fit some switches, the two on the right are for the points, the push button is to activate the uncoupling magnets and in the gap will be a rotary switch to select the required magnet.

RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted February 12, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2017 If you are to use a home-made bolt to align the tracks, you could also use it to power the appropriate electromagnet.

No magnets in the FY, they're dotted around the layout.

RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted February 19, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 19, 2017 Wiring on board 4 is now complete, a rotary switch has been fitted for the magnets. the loose wire is the return from the magnets and needs a connection to a power supply with the push button.
RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted February 26, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 26, 2017 Still nothing exciting to show but the wiring is just about there, the crossing polarity on the turnout on board 1 needs the wires connecting to the microswitch and then when they're made, the servo controllers need fitting. Otherwise all is looking good.
RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted March 2, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 2, 2017 At last something to show, even if it isn't much. Board 1 is now on it's own legs, sockets have been made and attached to the baseboards, these only stop the legs moving sideways, the weight of the board is resting on the leg crossmember. The nail, a 2 1/2" lost-head is a pin to hold the leg in place as the boards are erected, makes life easier when you're putting boards up on your own.

RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted March 10, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 10, 2017 (edited) One thing I found with the buttons for the electomagnets was, as I use a small handheld controller, having the button on the control panel made operation of them quite awkward. So much so that I'm changing to a rotary switch and a single button attached to the handset ( like a trigger). As your button is in the FY will you have similar issues ?
