Interesting that in that photo the light blue looks much closer to that in the photos of the models posted above by chris37422.

Oh, and it is Bruti :D

Which has alerted me to a screw up (or deliberate decision) on Dapols part.

023, 032 and 034 next to each other. 032 shouldn't have the Vossloh logo on the front of it when it does. They have the tooling too as 034 doesn't suffer the same issue. A bit of a shame.

It could be that they needed to do the same bodies for MOQs but you'd think they'd do the Stadler one and print the Vossloh logo on in that case. When they made 034 they also did 026 which is Stadler so maybe that's why?

Well spotted with the wrong builders plate have you informed Dapol . The part is easy enough to change . Hope they offer to swap the part for you .

It seems that 032 has gained a logo on the front, pictures of it from DRS days and early on in its repaint into TPE it doesn’t have a logo but there’s several photos and videos online with a front logo, that’s if I’ve understood your point correctly :)

I think you're talking about the TPE logo.

Vossloh ones have a logo bottom centre at each end.

Thus illustrated:

20210123_162849.jpg.4f8e01b9c895af5709526a84313cbacd.jpg

68008, 68006, 680032, 680023, 68034

008, 006 and 023 are Vossloh locos

032 and 034 are Stadler.

032 has the logo moulded into it whereas 034 does not.

What's wrong with the builder's plates?

023 was a Vossloh build, 032 was Stadler (who bought Vossloh)

Change of build nameplate was between 025/026

The Stadler ones (other than the two currently in it) never made it into DRS compass I don't think, they came out in the plain blue as the TPE deal was already going ahead.

Given they are dearer than everyone else they'll probably sell out last!

Yes I thought the same. I think it's that the paint looks that baby blue sort of colour when theres not much light and then becomes the bright vibrant blue when light falls on it. But most photos are taken in good light (given that's what the photographers aim for) and that if Dapol did a colour sample on a real loco the pearlescence wouldn't be picked up well I think.

Baby blue sounds good. Quite a muted colour https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/class68tpe

I haven't followed the discussion about colour.

Pretty sure that the only ones available at present are the DCC Ready models, with the DCC Fitted models to follow in about 2-3 weeks time. Unsure if Dapol are doing sound fitted ones.

Thank you for that.

For anyone looking for 68019 Brutus and hope don't start a stampede here at checkout but JDM models has a single DCC Sound version in stock £259 plus postage

Based on ebay prices for no sound, it seems a bargain!!

http://www.jdmmodels.co.uk/digital-sound?product_id=2061&sort=p.price&order=DESC

If that's the one I bought last year and returned it isn't in fantastic condition. Might not be but could be worth asking for pics first.

I'm not saying don't buy it, might not be the same one as I bought anyway (although they aren't increasing in number "new").

A little bit Naughty... if all model shops behaved like that I’d never be able to afford to buy anything!

It is actually worse I think than such as these PS5 scalpers who actually have to be on their game to have anything to sell.

This is like Currys etc. selling PS5s at the inflated prices.

Thing I don't understand is why everyone is in a frenzy to get these NOW, we have only known about these for the last 13 1/2 months and the AS mk5s for about 18 months!

I can only think it must be down to Accurascale showing pictures of the MK5s have made people order both, other than that I don’t know :unknw_mini:

Possibly. But given the CADs have been shown a whole ago was anybody particularly surprised they look fantastic?

I did think about getting one of the latest TPE Class 68’s and order a set of Accurascale TPE MK5’s but because of the perceived difficulty in getting and stupid prices the 68’s being charged, I’ve abandoned the idea.

I sometimes feel Dapol should have been aware of this and offered to produce a bigger run than they did so everyone who wanted one at a reasonable price, could.  I’m not saying they produce thousands extra but sufficient so everyone gets a bite of the cherry.

Guessing production numbers is a tough job. Produce too many and it hits the company finances, not enough and people moan. Simon K from Hornby has commented just how hard it is to judge. The long gap between deciding on the run length and it hitting the shops doesn't make things any easier either.

Yeah, but they did an EOI to make sure the numbers worked. It's sounds (given they did that) they were being cagey which in some respects you can't blame them. They probably don't know either how many Mk5 sets AS have sold or are going to make.

I totally agree as it must be a double edged sword getting the right number but they possibly knew that demand will outstrip supply.  The other side of the coin would be that if people can’t get a Class 68, they possibly would reconsider getting a Mk5 set which could possibly affect Accurascale’s sales.

I think its down to having too much choice...

if I pre-ordered everything I wanted I risk being broke, especially if it all arrived at once.
so I dont order at all, save having to cancel later.

So some I leave out there unfortunately when it arrives I have to decide on the spot, in my case the 1p, 94xx, trans penine and peaks all dropped together and next month i’ll have a free loco from all those nectar points.

Others ive locked in early, DRS20 for instance and pre-ordered.

TP was one of those, I have Brutus, I figured 2nd runs sell slow, so didnt bother.. then they landed, I suddenly jumped, I guess my virtual sack of lard jumped higher and faster than the rest of us, as I got mine last minute before they sold out... I always was good at musical chairs as a kid.
