Well that's another show over a done with. The layout is heading up the road to Newark, I'm home and John's probably still wandering around the NEC car parks looking for his lift.

A really good outing with DitD at Warley and our last show of the year. Loads and loads of interest in Damian's layout and lots of great comments off folk. We think we've had inquiries off 12-15 exhibition managers and all the big modelling mags had a chat with Damian. I think it's fair to say the Lizard has Landed!

Good to see and talk to loads of RMwebbers and we even got a late visitation from Sir York of Stafford (once he was dragged away from Wetherspoons and the bike show beauties!) I'm sure Andy has a photo or two to post (sadly of us not the bike show beauties).....

Bit tired now

I popped over to see the DitD fashion show today. MC Gringo was on the decks entertaining the masses.

The view round the back reveals that rather than a baseball cap he's gone for the Casey Jones chic look.

Damian, Chris and John were keen to promote their Best Dressed Diesel Layout policy along with the new corporate 'easy to find our stand' lizard.

It does seem as though 2manypiesspams may not have fully embraced the Reservoir Dogs colourway.

So, there we have the Midlands most stylish layout crew; but there again there's not much competition. ;)

Saw this excellent layout in the flesh today at Warley and was very impressed.Very nice slow running ,cracking buildings and scenics and well presented too.The operator I chatted to was friendly too.I hope I didn't put him off too much.

Well, thanks to my good friend Phil (of the Stafford club) I got home just in time for the local pub quiz, where the "Dimwits" lost three tie-breaks on the bounce and as "captain for the night" it was all down to my poor calls. So, it would seem that all that hard graft on the layout (and on those record decks under the sign of the lizard) must have taken a toll. Either that or it's all those pies and glasses of pop!

On a more serious note, that was just a superb weekend. Damian's layout not only looked the business, but ran well too (most of the time, except when I forgot to set the yard turnouts correctly and caused a DCC blip!). I know I've had a great time and really enjoyed meeting so many Rmwebbers too, whilst trying to talk and controlling two, or sometimes even three class 37s at the same time. A special mention for the Potter Heigham crew and a belated Happy Birthday to Josh - sorry didn't find out until five to five!

Thanks to everyone for the positive comments and to Andy for those ever so trendy fashion photographs. Just how is it that I begin to look more like Mr. Pastry as every day goes by?

Maybe - Time for bed said Zebedee!

All the best, John.

Just a quick post to say how much I enjoyed DiD. I'm modelling the clay scene in N gauge and this just looked like all the photos I've ever seen of St Blazey. Very impressed with the slow running, and with the scenics which were just superb. Even my father whos a die-hard LMS steam fan spent a long time watching.

Almost as good as a time machine back to Cornwall in the late 80s!

Thank you all for your kind comments both on this web-thingy and at the show.

I feel a real buzz today - I'm on a real high -

Has anyone got anyone got any photo's they fancy posting? - as usual we didn't have any time to take any in between, beer, pies and lots of yapping.......

Hi Bruce (D400),

Thank you very much for posting and expertly captioning your photographs - they're really special and I think emphasise what Damian and Chris are trying to achieve with the layout. I wish I could frame, never mind point and shoot, pictures like these. They're a great set of memories of a super weekend.

Thanks also to Terry, glad you enjoyed the atmosphere of the layout too. Quite obviously I wasn't operating when you both saw the layout!

All the best, John.

I got to see the layout on the Saturday and I have to say I was very impressed! Was a real joy to watch, the only problem being (like with most layouts at Warley) I could'nt stay for too long in fear of not seeing everything. I'm going to do both days next year as you really can't see everything in the one day to truely appreciate it. :)

We won't be there next year so you may not need the two days - ha ha.

We'll be there the year after with Johns ' Once Upon a Time in The West' 1919 New Mexico layout.
