Stubby47's Project #1 - DM Four Mill Something

This morning should see the remainder of the first-fix of the background scenery. I'm hoping it will look like a natural hill has been tunnelled into, and a man-made earth bank has also been constructed to limit the blast from any explosion.

The three track exits are not easy to disguise, hopefully the low viewing angle and suitably place buildings will help.

Once the basic shell of the ground is in place, I can add the first layer of static grass and finish off the ballasting.

I can the start the construction and installation of the hoist shaft.

There's 2 weeks to go yet.

Just the hoist, winding gear, NG track, uncoupler for the transporter siding and both undergound sections to do.

Plus fit the buildings in place, add roofs, and then add the general ground works.

Oh, and a fiddle yard, backscene, legs, lighting & pelmet.

Good point...

The wagons will need a piece of iron wire adding to one of the coupling hooks, as will the locos, unless they already have a staple.

That is, once I've picked the right selection of stock from the boxes.

However, I'll only need a couple of locos and about half a dozen wagons, plus the NG locos & wagons, including the two transporter wagons.

Went out at lunch time to buy some half-barrel hinges, ended up with adjustable legs (layout, for the use of), a pine shelf for the Fiddle Yard and some tester pots.

Did you remember to get your lunch?

Lord Cak turned up this evening.

Having added 3 dingham electromagnets in the sidings, I had reasoned that I could use a lifting plate for the transfer to transporter position, as there would be no room for the dingham.

Completely forgetting, of course, that with the added wire on the hook, the lifting plate doesn't work ( as the plate stops the wire swinging down).

So I've cut up the end of the siding, and cut a hole for the dingham magnet.

It will work, just not what I needed to do .

First layer of paper towels complete, 75% of second layer complete, 50% of grass cover complete.

Additional electromagnet installed & tested, track now glued in place.

Reballasting will wait until the rest of the ballasting is done.

Hoping the Mercontrol stuff arrives tomorrow, so I can lay the NG track.

The 2nd layer of paper towels was completed this morning (one of the quiet mornings, when no-one else is up :) ).
