Its actually a Humber 4X4.

The Humber 4X4 was produced as well as an ambulance as a radio truck, a staff car and as an armoured car. The staff cars had an estate car type body and 'demobbed' ones were popular with farmers after the war. A sort of precursor to the Range Rover.

A few photos of the classic lorries at Truckfest at the weekend.

The Leyland Bison represents perhaps the lowest point in UK truck manufacturing, the Volvo F12 about the highest. There may have only been a decade between them but they were generations apart in terms of durability and reliability.

The tan/black vinyl roof Chrysler just behind the tractor; I had an identical one for a couple of years.

Does anyone know what this futuristic looking truck is? Could it be a film prop or a concept vehicle perhaps...?

It's a TV prop, from a series I had never heard of, called 'The Highwayman.'

Don't think there's a thread for "Old Fire Engines" on here, but a line up of 3 of our preserved Suffolk Fire Service appliances during another Museum shunt yesterday.......

Left to right, Commer Avenger, Volvo and Dennis. The Dennis F12 was produced in "OO" model form in one of those Atlas "partwork" series a few years back, so you might actually have it on your layout somewhere.

Yes, the 03 plate Volvo is now preserved as Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service donated it to us in the last 18 months!

Have driven examples of all three. The F12 had a Rolls petrol in it and was quite capable of exceeding 70mph. An awesome machine to drive.

That is what always gives me a gentle reminder that I am getting old, when I go the Manchester Museum of Transport https://motgm.uk/  It's full of buses I used to travel on when they were in service!
