Mark 5, By Accurascale

Recommended Posts

Fair play lads, two really cracking looking liverys, AND you had everything but the kitchen sink thrown at you World 🌎 wise  as well as the complex TPE livery. Well I have  ordered the tpe set since day one, left it to late for a Caledonian set, but I'm sure one will turn up. Great work lads 👍

Yes, I have two (three if I include 033) 68s ready to go!

At least the 92 wont have to wait as long (assuming they all get sent out before the mk5s)! 😬

How does the Class 68 couple to the Mk5?  Is there a tension lock or a NEM adapter in similar style to the Chaldon?

Good news as far as we seem to be getting some of the long awaited projects landing,i might get to enjoy Christmas this year and it would appear we will get things that seem to go back to our short trouser days.....we need the working fan models so we get the heat off the motors to warm the loft.

Yeah, free range turkey cancelled due to bird flu, have a free range Mk5 pack instead......

Good job that they haven't done a GWR IEP.... Would need a shower fitted below the air con......

No idea. If not then Hunts or a 3D printed bar it is!

I believe it was said, many posts ago, that an additional magnetic NEM coupling will be included with the coaches to fit to your chosen loco.

Are final invoices being issued?

They were about 6 months ago I think?

In that case I've either paid or seriously in arrears. Message to self: "send e mail to Accurascale"

Correct. It has been mentioned officially that they'll come with a matching magnetic delner coupling as per the coaches for your loco. Obviously it's your choice whether you fit it or go for an alternative if you're likely to use the loco on other carriages and wagons.

The Dapol 68 coupling also needs to be the correct height to work with them.......   These guys usually cover most aspects, but if Dapol 68 couplings are anything like some of their droopy wagon couplings, the coaches may need to come with viagra tablets to give the 68....

Yes, the 68 couplers suffer with a bit of brewer's droop too. They are at the right height when horizontal, they just don't tend to be.

Can be fixed by gluing in the supplied plough/ object deflector and a bit of

plasticard to make the deflector support the coupling better. Main issue is droop of the CC mechanism which is not unique to this model…

I would think it is more difficult in 4mm (heavier stock) but I have several Kato N gauge EMU sets from the 90”s which have tiny scale size (as good as it gets) delner couplings which “click” fasten together, it’s a nice feature and when I first saw them was really pleased and surprised.

Its a great upgrade to the poor line up of 4mm coupling types.

We've tested these with very very long rakes with success (pictured is the Sleeper Dellner version)

Which is why I mentioned the weight of the N Gauge stuff is a LOT lighter, and doesn’t require the extra strength of magnets, they way you have done it takes care of both requirements, strength and detail.

Have recently equipped a rake of 7 new release Bachmann Bulleid coaches with magnetic couplings . I am highly delighted with the results.Easy fit & problem free. No worries here then I think.
