Needs a new (rebuilt) power unit, DRS's policy is when a 37 goes pop...it is popped onto the for-sale list. 409 had an F exam in spring 2018, if a new owner can swap in a power unit , you can see 409 returning for a while! In green (as built), and early blue with D numbers pre late 68 (presuming there were any?) D6889 and D6992 (D6889 also carried headlamps mounted on a bar attached to the headboard brackets for use on the Central Wales line). Also D6937 (with smaller BR logos), but this one - believed to be the first 37 into blue livery, in March 1967 IIRC - didn't hang about long before departing for Scotland. D6921/32 were green full yellow with 'central' BR logos - '21's were later painted out but '32 went on to be renumbered 37232 like this.

RMweb Gold 97406 Posted May 4, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 4, 2022 They look ace. I look forward to the splitbox ones in Large Logo and blue that I have on order and the undoubted future run of 80s 37/4s, of which I shall partake. 1
Torbay Express
Never noticed before, and don't want to open a can of worms but Bachmann handrails are actually done the exact same way as A/S are doing theirs. It's unnoticeable, unless you really look. The only way I happened to see it was below the baseboard in that area.

Thanks, but I really didn't like asking after hearing the rumours....(Alltorque, no stamina). I'm on about seeing the handrails after going under the boards to the model den, and seeing the 37 from an unusual angle! Talking of my model den, it would definitely make it more rigid than an Oxford MK3 Chassis, if that's any help? As for me, I'll keep suffering in marital bliss. Even when I do it right, she moans! Maybe I need to try earplugs?

dj_crisp
Nice looking steps and amazing kicker plate. Thats incredible. Sorry I don't like the brake chain... looks overscale and without the brake lever looks a bit weird. If anyone knows someone who produces scale chain I'll be very interested! Will Hi Will, We are looking at using a finer brake chain on the finished models, but I am sure you can apprecaite that we must strike a balance between prototypical and robustness as much as possible, and is easily replaced by the end user if desired. The brake levers are there, but we couldn't make them any lower without fouling the bogie on typical layout curves. Cheers! Fran 11

We were chatting about this way back when on this thread, and it is not possible to mould holes in the sides of the door apertures, and drilling them would be prohibitive expensive. I first observed it when I took a Bachmann retooled 40 apart for a respray. The older 40’s handrails were moulded and a pain to remove.
