My only niggle, as an out and out Midland nerd, is that I don't think I see anything that establishes it as a specifically Midland location - or am I missing something? There are now one or two clues in the photos that I've re-posted on page 1 of this thread!
Peter Kazmierczak
Thanks, Tim. I like the map in the style of the MR line diagrams. 2

RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted November 5, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 5, 2022 A few more images. The lineside factory of 'Taffson Evans', located on the other scenic board, which I will hopefully start working on before too long: The water tower and part of the yard at the Coalpit Heath-end of the layout. Still more scenic work to do here: Entrance to the yard at the Coalpit Heath-end of the layout. Again, the scenic work isn't finished and the main road surface has yet to be painted and weathered etc.: 27 1 1

MrWolf
Really excellent modelling Captain, the style of the buildings reminds me of exploring the remains of Coalville Town when I was a kid. We were about twelve and trying to figure out how we could uproot a Midland Railway gas lamp post! 4
RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted November 6, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2022 Found a few more views, some of which date from when I had both boards joined together last year. Much scenic work still required around the signal box: Looking through the road overbridge towards the board that has been more scenically developed earlier this year: NCB locos are 'plated' to run on BR metals from Frog Lane Colliery as far as Callow Lane: Due to the various low relief buildings that I have deliberately placed along the back edge of the layout, the actual backscene will probably be some photos of distant buildings glued to a sky backscene and the whole lot possibly laminated with a matt finish (if my local copy shop can do this). This is a trial montage, which I was quite pleased with: 30 3

I have the Dapol version and the retooled one on order from Kernow. It all stems from a photo of one coming off the Bodmin line at Bodmin Road, with a crew that would have looked equally at home on a kettle. Fantastic work Sir, and always an inspiration 👍
