Very nice CK.

It will set the scene nicely.

Out of interest do you know if these kits are still available or is it a case of searching for a second hand one?

Cheers,

Mark

I'm not totally sure, to be honest, Mark.

I ended up with two kits, one from a very kind person on RMWeb, I may have ordered the other one from a shop.

If you are looking for one, do PM me!

Cracking job on the crane, but, is the jib upright enough? I've just been looking at some North Eastern ones that are all but identical and they seem to all be at about 45 degrees as seen at Potto below.

The Mike's Models range is now supplied by Holt Model Railways, Swansea.

Looks like a phone call is the best bet.

Somewhere I have a whitemetal corrugated  waiting shelter similar to those on the Wye Valley line and I've only just realised that was a Mike's product.

Interesting. If the crane was working, a steeper angle would seem to be called for, but it must be possible to lower the jib for maintenance etc.

The angle on mine doesn't seem that much shallower than the one at Potto?

Bear in mind that the Potto one is not taken side on, and as the view becomes more end on, the jib will appear to get more vertical - is that an issue here perhaps?

Fast forward to 1973 at Callow Lane and an 08 has appeared in the yard:

Every so often, a ready-converted P4 loco comes up for sale and I was very fortunate to be able to acquire this Hornby 08 from a fellow Scalefour Society modeller recently.

Morning Tim.

I'm very much a fan of these little chaps. Could we consider them to be a "modern" Pannier perchance ?

Well, perhaps!

What other small diesels could come under the 'cute' category, I wonder?

The 05 has a certain 'air' about them.  Heljan modelled the later "high window" variant which to the best of my knowledge didn't frequent East Anglia. In theory, this precludes a visit to Ewe..........in theory....

Just ripped up one part of my layout and re-laid with this idea in mind so hope you don't mind a bit of plagiarism (outright idea theft) but the bridge and houses make a good way to avoid continuing membership of the flat board society.

I must say that the LM&SR knocked up some quite quirky and not altogether unattractive little tender engines from former Midland types.

Indeed 58143 had first received a G6 boiler in December 1923 but other 1142 Class members had received theirs up to several years earlier, so the quirkiness that appeals to you should be attributed to the Midland rather than the LMS.
