Interesting and inspiring photos from Flickr....

Not Flickr, but didn't know where to put it, found this channel by chance.  It's a load of video from the 80s uploaded - Crewe, Sheffield, Manchester and up to Scotland.

It's the shear variety, not often you find 25/1 on Youtube, even jointed track - remember that!

You'll get more joy if you search for Scout Moor tramway/quarry rather than Edenfield.  The quarry above Ramsbottom still exists. The Aveling & Porter 3' gauge loco shown  was named Excelsior and is still extant in unrestored condition:

Edenfield is north of Bury in the Irwell Valley.

I think the b&w photos were taken at Boston Lodge, because this is how I remember the loco looking there c1978.

The curved cab profile is how it was originally built ….. is it now like that again?

I saw the Harrogate Peckett a few weeks ago at Statfold and it still appears as per the colour photo above. The other Harrogate gasworks loco, Barber is still in that condition, but the South Tynedale Railway are looking to alter the cab shape for crew comfort. This has met with a lot of opposition from the purists.

I wonder if the Harrogate Gasworks Drewery diesel is still extant too?  According to a book I have on the line, it was exported to Zimbabwe.  Sure I read somewhere it still existed in the mid-1990's...

That’s a punchy looking machine. Was there ever a chance that it could have worked on the Ffestiniog?

I came across this picture at the old Saughtree station and it seems that someone built a small private railway. It just struck me as it's probably what a lot of enthusiasts fantasize about, buying an old station and just having a short line built to play with. The site was even for sale earlier in the year, but I believe that it has been turned into a B&B.
