Very little trace of that scene now, but if you’re passing and you know where to look you can just about work out where things used to be.

And I thought my school was close to the railway. One side looked at the Quarry line just before it disappeared into Redhill tunnel. I just had to keep an eye on what went passed especially as it was the last couple of years of the Brighton Belle.

"an unidentified Clayton class 17 powering a crane"

Are we really believing that? More likely the other way round! 😉

There are a bunch of photos on Flickr of various diesel locomotives wearing a Star Trek reference -- "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE" headboard. All the photos date from either 2020 or 2013. Any idea what the headboard was for?

I have a kit in my stash to build this very loco. So Rapido (other manufacturers are available) will announce one within weeks of me completing it 🙄 .

1964 - Mixed Freight at Sheep Pasture..

The LMS iron ore hoppers would be worthy of producing. No RTR and no kit. There is a 3D print file available to download.

In fact, iron ore hoppers are poorly represented in model form.

Would this be close enough?

May do for some but personally not as it stands. The model dates from Mainline days.

The body is a fairly close but slightly long representation of the Charles Roberts 1930s built 21ton design. BR built more in the early fifties uprated to 24ton.

The chassis is well out: 10ft wheelbase, 17ft 6in over headstocks, morton brakes, 13ton axleguards and axleboxes. This is the chassis normally used under merchandise vans and open wagons and is fine for that purpose.

It should be; 9ft wheelbase, 16ft 6in over headstocks, independent (eitherside) brakes, 20ton axleguards and axleboxes.

So, a mediocre representation of the intended prototype which is not an LMS iron ore hopper anyway!

Though an accurate model of either would be welcome.

This is the Mainline wagon, not the one above. The one above is N gauge

And Yes. It is a very poor quality model nearly forty years on.
