Birmingham will probably become North of London Airport

It did have that ambition when the NEC was built. At the time, pre-Heathrow Express, it advertised that the train journey from Euston to Birmingham International was quicker than getting out of London to Heathrow.

We don't want planes at the bottom of the garden; they smell!

Hi not sure if this is in the right place but I am trying to book tickets for the show. But I am struggling to enter the promo code to get the tickets at the cheaper Brm subscriber price.

Any ideas as to what the promo code is?

Many thanks in advance

Dan

Hi all

for the next year or so everyone has to temper their expectations of exhibitions .

Most will play the cautious card so they live to fight another day , it’s unrealistic to expect them to pick up where they left of.

regards Arran

Thanks I have seen that. Is it then your Brm magazine membership number? If so where would you find it?

Cheers

Dan

Yes, without any preceding zero`s. I understand that only subscribers to the postal paper copies are entitled to the discounted tickets prices.

There is a link on the Ally Pally show web page that will give you your subscriber number. Or it will be printed on the address label on your next copy of BRM that should be arriving shortly.

Thank.  My latest copy has arrived. Would my membership no be at the top above my address?

No, we go to England.

As I say, you lot are over complicating things.

Back to the exhibition itself, as this is really what its all about, for me there are a few must see layouts. In no particular order

 Dobris.

Canada Street

Lindon Road

Sidmouth

Norge sounds like a bit of fun.

Trader wise,

Titfield Thunderbolt will definately get a visit as I have a few, ahem....'needs'.......

It should be a good couple of weeks with the SWAG meet the weekend before.

Rob.

There's been a change of plan as I have now been asked to bring Banbury instead of Dobris.

Hopefully Dobris will be there next year.

Hang on a minute. I drive all the way from Brackley to Bristol to look at a model of Banbury station? I spent 14 months commuting to Birmingham a few years ago so I really don't need to look at a model of Banbury station :P

And..Sidmouth? I remember it well. Many, many years ago I cycled there from Exeter. It was a good ride, I particularly enjoyed the final run down to the beach. Unfortunately as the old saying points out 'what goes down has to climb back up...'.

Yes, on my address label it’s above my name.

... and if nots there, then...
Well I've tried all sorts of combinations of the numbers underneath the actual address, to no avail.
There's a 'x (space) xxxxx' number after my postcode, doesn't work with the B22 in front and using the last 4 xxxx's.
And there's a ..../Cxxxxxxx number at the very bottom of the label and B22xxxx, that doesn't work either.
I'm not worried about saving £3, more interested in entering 30 minutes earlier.
Edit - Mention in post above is 'preceding' zero's, None of the 'complete' numbers on my label have preceding zero's.

I would suggest that you send your details to the exhibition team at exhibit@warnersgroup.co.uk who will be able to assist you with your subscription number problem This email address is monitored daily Monday – Friday. I have used them in the past and found them very helpful.

But if you are not concerned with the subscriber discount and you want the early entry, then by purchasing an advanced ticket, this will allow you to enter the exhibition early at 09.30.

bourneagain, many thanks,
Will do.
In view of the costs from Penzance to Thornbury, and back, a £3 saving is neither here not there :jester:

Have you looked at split ticketing? The last time I did a return trip Plymouth-Bristol, there was a good saving, by breaking it down, Plymouth-Taunton and Taunton-Bristol, obviously you may need to break it down further. The train(s) you split ticket on must stop at those stations.

So a turn up for the books, I am going to be in Weston Super Mare from 27-29th April and my journey home on the 29th will be right past Thornbury.

So rather than a trip down and back in one day, a day out at this exhibition is going to be my rest on the way home.

I just wanted to thank the organisers of this year's Bristol show for inviting me back for a repeat visit with my layout, BEIJIAO.

The Bristol exhibition in 2018 was the layout's first public show - and we learnt a lot.

In the intervening four years I have made several upgrades and, four years later, we are returning with a layout which is finally 'finished' - hopefully!

Here is a video made at Aly Paly a few weeks ago to give you an idea of what you'll see in three weeks time.

LOOKING FOR GUEST OPERATORS FOR BRISTOL!

Hello all

I'm bring my large CHINESE HO layout, BEIJIAO (see video above),  to the Bristol show and due to unforeseen circumstances I am one operator short - would you like to be that extra guest operator?

There will be a hotel room available on a B&B basis and we all love a night in the pub after a day's operating. So, how about it?

There are all sorts of options as the show is setting up on Thursday and open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Please send me a PM if you would like to be part of team or any (or all) of those days.

  • 2 weeks later...

This is a second appeal for a guest operator for my large HO layout next weekend. I have had two offers, but they were both from about 200 miles away from the venue and whilst I can offer a B&B on Friday and Saturday, I was hoping to find some a tad closer to Thornbury as our travelling expenses budget is already overdrawn.

So, fancy a chance to operate a layout (and see the show for free) then please send me a PM - and I don't mean Boris.
