RHTT 2022

Recommended Posts

Yesterday's steed. Linked from my Flickr.

Sprayer to the Southern

Changing ends on the Southern Region, in Salisbury platform 5, 66069 and 66129 are seen waiting time with 3J13 Westbury - St Blazey via Salisbury. This shiny red engine hasn't yet gained a full coat of RHTT brown, but the dirt is starting to build. The run back to the safety of the Western Region was about 10 late due to following a late running GWR Pompey - Cardiff.

If anyone has any decent photos of RHTT wagons I'd be grateful. I have 2 wagons to weather and the more reference material I have the better - I'd like to do them "in use" but not spray painted brown. The wagons do get some quite characteristic weathering..

Pick a particular headcode and look at those on flickr.

(In my local case 3J11)

The cr&p is from the sprayer outwards. Those immediately above the sprayer suffering the least.

The clean tank ends on those facing away from the sprayer are still quite apparent at the end of the jetting season. (Nothing like the Hattons all over mud weathered versions!)

This is only 10 days into the diagram this year

WCR 37688 was on the Marches RHTT today - heard it blast past my house in Hereford  but didn’t see it. Covering for a shortage of Colas 66s, apparently (it was a FL / colas shed combo earlier this week)

With the level of RHTT grime building up on the vehicles, DR98954 and DR98904 pass through Deighton on 19th October 2022 with 3S08, Wigan LIP to Wigan LIP via assorted lines in Lancashire, Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire.

All dull and increasingly tatty MPV's down my way at the moment including this example in Horsham late this afternoon:

Network Rail DR97978 Horsham 22/10/22

Wouldn't mind Bachmann shrinking one of these down to N scale though...

Why's it got a headboard and what does it say?

If it follows from previous years the headboard says something like 'York Leaf Busters'.
