Having chatted to Sheepbloke about such matters I think this is a sound reason for avoiding that weekend. ChrisH 2

I like the way you start each layout with an aerial overall view, then get down to line-side level for the more detailed shots, and the way you leave the camera focused on something as a train goes out of view rather than trying to follow it. 2

Many thanks Callum - think that’s some of the best close up footage I have ever seen of my micro and thankfully no derailments, unexpected uncoupling or lack of operator concentration captured…unless you edited those bits 😉 2

RMweb Gold Popular Post SouthernRegionSteam Posted May 7 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 7 Apologies again for the long break between posts! I'll be away for 3 days, so there will be more gaps between photos, but we'll get there eventually! Anyway, onto @Paulrhodes 's absolutely exquisite 'Old Parrock'. This little cameo layout in OO is a delight, and, like many layouts at SWAG, proved that you don't need a lot of space to create something impressive. The layout was well presented, ran beautifully, and looked stunning with its Pendon-esque buildings and some lovely scenic work and consistent colouring. I feel it was quite brave to opt for 3-links on what is, essentially, a shunting layout - yet it worked very well. I suppose the small size of the layout means that at least you don't have to reach across a wide baseboard to uncouple! Happily, most of my time at SWAG was spent admiring, and taking photos of the layout - so watch out for more photos and a full layout feature in BRM somewhen next year. But for now, here are a few sneak peaks: 25 1 6
Paulrhodes
Thank you for sharing those great photos of Old Parrock, Jamie, they're really excellent, and I really appreciate your kind comments too. Exhibiting the layout over the last eighteen months has been hugely enjoyable for our small team and also informative. I've been adding to the freight stock but it's now time to think about a second passenger train which I'll start building this autumn. Obviously it'll be short! 7
RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted May 10 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 10 Old Parrock was a wonderful layout, and inspirational in so many ways. 2
RMweb Gold Popular Post SouthernRegionSteam Posted May 12 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 12 (edited) I'm finally back, which means it's time to move onto the next layout at SWAG - @wiggoforgold's 'Lydbrook Dean'. Yet again, Alex has produced a very atmospheric and cohesive layout, with the unique autumn setting giving a lovely vibe - catching glimpses of buildings and trains through the bare trees. The vegetation is a treat for the eyes, and the autumn colours really work well across the board. It is unmistakably Forest of Dean! I would've liked to get more posed shots, but I was starting to panic about not having enough time, so these will have to suffice I'm afraid: Edited May 12 by SouthernRegionSteam 28 2
RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted May 12 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 12 Really evocative, and I particularly liked the lane sloping steeply away behind the level crossing. 1 3
