Well the SWAG day was definitely worth the trip "down south" once again. As ever, the standard of layouts was as good as the standard of cakes and pasties... and that's saying something indeed.

Yes it was a good day.Peter lord, extracted some of my post office pension from me and in one of the pictures Brian of 247 can be seen extracting some more from me, my only wonder on this tread of RM web is not one picture of a pasty being consumed at the staplegrove pasryfest. so much is posted about them on here I expected one might have appeared by now

......Hi Marc, as you say it was good to met up again and have a chat. I have also been trying to recall our previous meeting and I think it may have been at Barnstaple in 2014 !!

Best wishes Rob

Hi again Rob - by gum, I think you have solved it. Barnstaple 2014, where I was invited to exhibit by Mudmagnet and co

Ah, Mr Lord has extracted the readies from many willing modellers over the years... always willingly (too much so, in my case I admit).
I suspect @Graham456 that the pasties are consumed immediately, and rather quickly - which is the reason for a lack of photos. Indeed, typing this reply, I wish I had one of those fine snacks in front of me now! ha ha

There's definitely a service lull on Paynestown while the pasties go down!😂

I didn't notice the layout - I was just producing a bit of pasty porn....

Me neither.  But it's one of those things where once you've seen it you can't un-see it 😉

Morning all,

A date for your diaries.

I can confirm that SWAG'25 will be held on.....

SUNDAY 6TH APRIL 2025.

Please note the shift to the beginning of the month, made for a variety of reasons.

Hall is booked and deposit paid.

☆The fact that we can go ahead and do this is entirely due to the success of this year's jolly modellers day out and in particular, the generous donations made to the cause by both our visitors and a few very kind souls, who despite being unable to attend have still contributed.☆

On behalf of all who are involved in SWAG...

I thank you.

Rob

In the calendar. Nice one Rob.

Thanks for the update, now in my e-calendar for 2025. Apologies if the moveable Easter dates, therefore by association our big YMRS event, is one of the reasons.

I guess a move to early April also avoids any possible clash with the Key Model World thing at the NEC, if it happens again.

Yes indeed Key Model World Live is planned already for next year to be on the same weekend 26/27th April 2025.

And happily it also means I can now book Sandy Shores into an exhibition that I was expecting to have to turn down - what a stroke of luck! Plus being the start of April, it'll be a nice early birthday present for me to attend SWAG.

Side note: Apologies for the delay in posting the next set of photos - I'm editing a large batch (as the next layout will be making an appearance in the modelling press at some point 😉 ) so it'll be a while before I'm ready to post a small selection from them. Thanks for your patience - I'm too much of a methodical worker to skip a layout just to post quicker.
