End of Warley National Show - but now it's not the end of a show at the NEC.

Ha!

So since the end of November we have gone from the Warley show at the NEC to zero shows at the NEC to two shows at the NEC (Model World Live in April, now this one in November.)

I thought high prices/nothing for the kids/too little competition/too much competition/too much detail/ageing population etc etc were supposed to be killing the hobby?

cheers  Ben A.

As I said earlier, for as long as I can remeber some doom-merchant or other has been claiming that model railways are "finished".  In the 1960s is was slot-car racing, 1980s video games etc, etc.

This is great news from "Andy Towers"

Still, I'm glad i went in 2023, I nearly said "Can I leave it till next year?"

Whilst undoubtedly good news and still early days, is there an intention to continue to invite specialist societies as occured with the Warley event?

For full disclosure I am both the Exhibition Stand Organiser for the Signalling Record Society and a member of Warley MRC.

There's a lot to sort but if we'd tried to get most of that done before a full announcement it would have been the worst kept secret in the hobby so, as things were only confirmed 48 hours ago, we've just gone for giving the where and when whilst we get down to it all.

Give ‘em chance 😆, they’ve got the venue and now the trade already calling so no doubt invites or the Warley booked list will be looked into soon.

Why would they have to? It's the National show put on by Warners. Why didn't you ask the same question in the Keymodel world thread?

For what it's worth I'd be very surprised if there's been no discussion between Warners and Warley club, I think this is excellent news and wish them success as well as the Key team for April. It shows that theres real interest and enthusiasm for promoting the hobby from within the hobby trade.

This is very welcome news, but if we want it to succeed then WE have to put our money where our mouth is - and GO!

I have put my cards on the table some time ago - my hobby is exhibiting my model railway, in other words I build a model railway in order to exhibit it.

Consequently, I need exhibitions to continue and in order to continue they need to thrive and so, I'll be going!

Thanks for that. The wife didn't appreciate me squirting the cup of tea I was drinking out my nostrils after reading that comment!

We'll need to start the foundations with the big building blocks of layouts and trade then move towards societies and demonstrators in due course.

I think I can say that Warley club wish Warners every success at the NEC. It is good to see two organisations following Warley’s lead by putting on big exhibitions at the NEC.

I am not aware of any Warley layouts being invited to the Warner show (yet) but Warley will have a couple of layouts at Model World Live. This shows Warley club fully supports these new ventures.

Andy and all the BRM Team

After being at the club tonight I think it’s fair to say that all Stafford Railway Circle members are fully behind you, as we were for Warley Club right from the outset.

Good on you BRM

Did you write what you intended to write there or did I miss some subtle irony?
